Weekly Contest #7: If you could have lunch with anyone...
Welcome to Golf Rewinds seventh weekly contest.
This is how it works: I will be asking a question and you are to respond with an answer. Your answer will be your entry for the contest. Only one entry per person. (Entering more than once disqualifies you). Also, please do not post any other posts in the contest thread except for your one entry post. This weekly contest will run from Monday to Sunday each and every week.
In order to win, you must be at Golf Enthusiast level (30+ posts) or higher. If you are not currently at that level, you can still enter but you must have at least 30 posts by the end of the contest in order to win the prize.
The prize: A sleeve of personalized Golf Rewind Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf balls.
This contest ends on Sunday, May 6 at 11:00 PM Eastern time.
Here is the question:
If you could have lunch with anyone, deceased or alive, who would it be? Why? Where would you have lunch at? What would you order?
Good luck, everyone!

The person I would invite to lunch would have to be Ben Hogan . His life just is so fascinating with playing performance and personal experiences. A big juicy steak would be my preferance from the menu at the best hotel of his choice..
I would invite my step-father, who has raised me as one of his own children. He's shown me so much in and about life, and i respect him more than anyone i've ever met. We'd have lunch at my house and drink a few beers together while we cook the burgers on the grill.
I don't consider myself a religious person, but I do consider myself a spiritual one. I'd like to have lunch with Jesus, who could explain and help me understand life's big picture. As people we get so hung up on the "trivialities of everydayness" that we prevent ourselves from letting our real Selves blossom and manifest themselves.
I think as a species we have a tremendous amount of potential, we just constantly get in our own way. Jesus would help me see that and teach me to get out of my own way so I could be a better person (and a better golfer
We would have lunch at my house on my deck out back. It's quiet and there are a lot of trees. I would serve finger foods: fruits, vegatables, lunch meats, good crusty bread with some flavored olive oil and a nice red wine.
Lunch would start late while the sun was high in the sky and would end with the sun setting and moon and stars beginning to shine.
If I could have lunch with 1 person (I hope at the club house) it would be my deceased Grandfather, Cliff Doxey Sr. He passed away roughly 6 years ago of heart failure, but had other medical problems at the time. The man was a saint in the fact he would never complain about pain, being sick or anything. He was quick with a dirty joke, he gave me my first beer when I was 8 (just a couple sips) he was like the big brother I wish I had.
The main reason I would want to have lunch with him at the club house is, that he was a club champ locally for 6 years straight, and 8 out of 12 years. The man loved golf, and played up until some surgery on his neck left him with a halo on his head. He tried and tried to get me interested in golf when I was in high school, I just wanted no part. I wanted to play basketball or volleyball (all of which a 5 foot 11 white boy has no future in). I would give almost anything to play a round of golf with my "Papa" and listen to his stories.
If I can have a lunch with anyone, it would be Donald Trump. Where? Where else but Pebble Beach. He'd still be babbling about his club ( Trump National ) and how they are better than Pebble or Winged Foot. What would I have? What else but the Bacon Cheese Burger. Last time I had that I could barely finish it. So, if I can bear watching Donald's hair for an hour ( hopefully shorter ) and listen to his ******** and still hold my lunch, I know I am better than most people in patience and endurance department. I hate all and every aspect of the man and whatever he thinks he represents.
Cheers! ( I'll drink until I can barely hear whatever he's saying " Donald! You're fired!"

Reason: Full ***-out required!
After 3 minutes of thinking about it I choose Mike Weir. Everyone who knows him says he's a really nice guy and there are tons of similarites between his game and mine. Both of us are leftys and don't drive it too far so we rely on our short game. It would be at the excellent lounge in the clubhouse of my country club so we could play a round after lunch.

I would love to have lunch with Abe Lincoln. It would be interesting to better understand what he was going thru during the Civil war. He seemed to be such an every day kind of man, I would want to have lunch at home and make it fairly simple. Maybe a good beef roast, potatoes, vegetable fresh bread and a pie.

My brother, without a doubt. You see, my brother was kiled at the age of 18 in a single car accident. This occurred in Feb, 1969. I was born in April of 1970.
To this day, I can't seem to comprehend how someone whom I've never met could have such a profound influence on my life, be it good or bad. Needless to say, I was overprotected as a child.
It's odd how similar we are/were. He sang in a band and at school, I sang at school, and, now, at weddings, in church etc.. He was an extremly good student in school, and I wasn't too shabby, either. Our senior high school pictures are eerily similar with the only real difference being that our hair is parted on different sides.
Yes, I'd like to meet my brother, to learn what kind of person he was, and would have been. To see if the thoughts I have are close to the ones he had. Does he like the person Ive become?
Had he not been killed, my parents wouldn't have had another child. I owe my life to his death. It's just something that has always been in the back of my mind.

If it could be anyone, it would be my sister. My sister has helped me through alot and has always been there for me when I need her. She's always thoughful and kind. That's who I'd have a dinner with.

Probably my grandfather, he died before i was born so i never meet him. My dad is secretive and if never really asked him about him and my grandmother is weird and i really dont get to see here that much.
We'd probably just sit outback and have a barbecue and have a catch. Probably just talk about his life, and how he died, since i dont even no that.
