Tim, I'm also a 2 handicap (and collecting Social Security). I've played a lot of competitive golf for a number of years. My game is much more feel than technical. My experience has been that what feels comfortable is what will work for you. For instance, I've used the same Ping putter for the past 6 years. It replaced a similar one I had for 8 years that broke when I leaned on it marking a ball. I believe you can get the improvement you're looking for by course management improvements and short game practice. The best golf book I ever read was, "How To Play Your Best Golf All the Time" by Tommy Armour, Sr. And I still go back to it every few months or so.

Anyone can improve their game with the right equipment, so the answer is yes you can be helped but ......

if you are a 2 handicap its alot harder to improve your game. When a person is a handicap of 15 or lets say 25 then they have alot of ball striking ability problems and need something that fits to the contour of their swing to help with accuracy and some distance. When you are a handicap of 2 you don't have that much control problems or distance problems. Yeah you would like to increase distance alittle more and tighten your shots but thats somewhat different and actually comes down to alittle more feel for you then it does fitting.

I'll put it this way. When a golfer is at 50% of his potiential then its easier for me to help him find the next 30% but when a golfer is at 85% its hard to find something that will start shaving the strokes per se. It is possible but it takes alittle more time and more questions to narrow down the problem.

If you get a chance can you give me a call so we can pin point the parts of your game that needs assistance and then I can help you determine if its equipment or practice.
