Feedback on a "thriver"

Christian was patient when I described a 3-wood I was looking for. I wanted something that was more like a driver than a fairway wood which I will always use from a tee. It's for those dog-leg tee shots where I want to take about 10-20 yards off my drive and not shoot past the corner.

He put together an SMT Solitaire 3.5 head with an Icon FH shaft. It's a very nice looking club. The only bad thing is that on the simulator, it only went about 5 yards less than my driver! If you're looking for a well built 3-wood that really performs well, he's the guy to talk to. Maybe next year, I'll have him put together a driver that outperforms the 3-wood he just made.

The SMT Fairway is definitely a long hitting head but I never thought you would hit it that far with a 3.5.

Glad you like the club and thanks for purchasing from CGS.

Let me give a little update. On the simulator, my driver carries 216 yards and this club carries 211. My total distance for the driver is 248 and this 3-wood is 229. So I am getting almost 20 yards less, which was my ultimate goal. The carry is only 5 yards off, which is what I was referring to. In reality, I usually get about another 10-20 yards with my driver than the simulator shows. So this club will fit in very nicely between it and my 3-hybrid which goes 201 yards.

That is an awesome combo you have there. I do not have one yet myself but have hit the combo in our studio. Awesome results. It might just find its way into one of my bags. If there is anything else we can help you with, just give us a ring.
