I tried the MacTec it was very solid feeling but the shaft was weird to me, very hard to turn the ball over, I know a guy who is a hooker who won a long drive contest using this driver and hitting slight fades because he couldn't turn it over either.
I just finished hitting the new NVG2 at the local golf shop. The MacGregor tour van was there and they were demoing the new equipment. I brought my current driver (Mizuno MP-001 460, regular flex, Exsar 60 shaft). The company reps brought two of the new NVG2 drivers to hit. One is the regular version and one was the tour version. The tour version comes in straight 7 8 9 and 10 hi-launch degrees. The regular NVG comes in 9.5, 10.5 and 11.5 degrees. The tour version gets the Fujikura Speeder 757 with Quadra-Action shaft. The Regular version gets a non 757 Fujikura shaft with Quadra-Action. The simulator didn't measure head speed, just ball speed. Results, best ball speed: Tour NVG2 (9 degree, stiff) 153 mph, Reg NVG2 (10.5 regular flex) 157 mph, Mizuno MP-001 (10.5 regular flex) 165mph.
My impression of the new NVG2; I liked it. The simulator did show my drives with the MacGregor clubs were more down the middle. I personally like the look of the NVG drivers, both original and the new NVG2. I think the results show how important the shaft is to the club. I have never liked the Fujikura shafts, they just don't work for me. The Graphite Design and UST shafts have always given me better results. And for some reason the Exsar shafts REALLY work for me. My old T-Zoid forged 3 wood is the same way.
I wouldn't hesitate to give the new MacTec a few swings when they get released for sale. They do seem to turn mishits that would normally be in the rough into something in the fairway. And if you like the Fujikura shafts.

Mizuno drivers are underated I just bought the 8.5 tour version of the 001 use with a stiff Exsar shaft, liked it but culdnt get my natural draw.I took it back to second swing and got a 9 degree Mizuno 001 with a reg. Exsar shaft and creamed everything with wookability......Mizuno drivers are very underateratd.
This is the best driver I have hit for my swing and I have hit alot.
The Fuji shaft in it is nice and it seems like the stiff is a little soft which works great for me since I am in between on alot of clubs.
I got a tour model used. The price was right and I had read good things about it. Everyone who says that the shaft runs soft on them is right. I got a stiff shaft and it seems about right for my swing. This is a very forgiving driver. It makes a different sound than most of the other drivers I have hit. If you are a sound person this driver may not be for you. Personally I like the crack that is gives. Overall I am very happy with my purchase. I have tried and X460, a Cobra 410 offset, Callaway 410 and 454, and a clone r7. Of all of them I am happiest with the NVG2. I would say it is definately worth giving a few swings to see how it works for you.
