I hit an SQ Tour 460 today as well as my Titleist 905.
I can see the lure of the club, the club does go miles and it feels very nice at address but I just prefer my 905. The 905 feels nicer off the face and the SQ had less forgiveness with my drives.
If someone gave me a SQ, I'd be delighted but I wouldn't spend my own money whenever I had a choice between that and a 905 or even an R7.
im gonna test the SQ against the cleveland Hi bore. I see how the trends keep shifting from square shaped face back to low profiled. Altho i like the idea that a sweeping action is encouraged which helps the swing shallow out
I am in the market for a new driver and I tried the tour model the other day and I narrowed it down between the tour model and the X Speed by Cobra.
Both are great drivers I am reading all the reviews and going to try some more before I finallly throw down the money.
Awesome club. Went to the shop and hit the launch monitor with this an R7, a Cleveland Launcher and one of the new Hi-Bore's. SQ was by far the most consistant in both carry and accuracy. All of which as thus far, carried over to the course as well. I'm hitting twice as many fairways and evem my misses are pretty close. Well worth a look if your interested. (I also liked the launche, but this at the time was a little cheaper. That helps too. )
Our golf club had a Nike demo day a week or so ago & I tried a couple of the SQ's & they basically fitted me for one & boy do those drivers go. Wish I'd bought one now. but I'd not long ago bought my Yonex cyberstar Nannospeed, which gives me fairly good results. I think after trying the SQ & going through a couple of options, the guys recommendation of 13" with stiff shaft, worked so well for me, I'm thinking about trying a stiff shaft in my current driver to see if I can get similar results.
Loved the way the SQ went, the way it was at address, everything, apart from maybe the garish colour & the fact its made by NIke. But in reality I'd swallow my pride & use one if push came to shove if it meant more fairways & better controlable distance.
My old driver was a Taylor Made 360XD. I loved that club but I had no idea how easy it was to drive the ball well until I got the SQ. Unbelievable!
I demo'd the following clubs before making my decision:
Cally X 460
Ping G5
Cleveland TI460 and Launcher Comp
Cobra F and X Speed
I hit the SQ and the Cally very well, but I was more consistant with the SQ. But I decided I would get the Cally because of how ugly the SQ and it's garish headcover are. They were out of stock in the 460 so I decided to go with the SQ after all (smart decision).
I'm driving the ball straight and long. The sound is loud and satisfying. I'm hitting more fairways than I ever have before. To echo Absolut: I almost feel like i'm cheating when I hit my SQ.
I couldn't possibly be more pleased with this club. I've played 4 rounds with it and look forward to many more! I'm even getting used to the power bow and enormous head cover!
Swaped it for my Ignite which was great but this beats it hands down. I got the 13` and it goes the same distance as my 10.5` Ignite. The shaft is about 1 1/2 inches shorter which is great cos i used to grip down my Ignite. With the extra loft it does go straigher, more backspin rather than sidespin.
I would highly recomend it and its cheaper than an overpriced/over rated Taylor Made.
The only downside is the headcover is an absolute mare to get on and off.
finally got my SQ 460 Tour w/ Mitsubishi Diamana 63 g4t Stiff after waiting it for a month.....took it to the range right away.....thank god I ordered this one.....so sweeeeeeeeeeeet. Best driver ever. Nike is getting me back to their market....now i will consider buying their balls.
I bought a 9.5 degree Sasquatch last week in a stiff Diamana shaft. After struggling to awhile with ball position and tee height I finally started hitting it well.
Now that I've got it figured out I am hitting the c*&p out of it and am very happy with the purchase.
