I tried the Hibore, ping g5, TM F7, and the Nike SQ TOUR.
I went in thinking I would never like the Nike, just because it is a nike. On the simulator the Nike was by far the most consistent as far as accuracy and distance. I am not going to say this club magically added 15 yards or anything like that, it was just flat out consistent.
I was use to the old Titleist 905, and looking at all of these new drivers and the very large heads just seemed wrong. I liked the look of the Nike SQ tour vs the regular Nike.
Once playing on the golf course I lost all the consistency I had in the simulator. My friend pointed out I was addressing the ball like I would a 5 iron. After correcting that I really got all the consistency back. \
If you are looking at a Nike SQ or SQ tour make sure you hit all the lofts that you can, these clubs do seem to hit the ball a little bit higher.
Over all I love my Nike SQ Tour 9.5* NIVIDA 65 stiff
Hoping the wife gets me the exact same club for my birthday with the exact shaft ^ except I want the Aldila NV or the Blueboard Diamana. I didnt know Nvidia made shafts also I thought only video cards lol j/k
I got the chance to look at an SQ today (first time ive seen one).... biiig head! But good looking, the size of the head makes the shaft seem really short, always a bonus for confidence.... it felt more like my hybrid than my 983k driver!
It is a shame they dont do the regular SQ with more shaft options.... I want the longest most forgiving club possible and I read that the SQ tour (which has the shaft options) is less of a fit to this description.... so i have to admit im looking into alternatives which give me shaft variations.
^ buns I wish they had them in the blue board diamanas id pay the xtra. Anyways I tried it both on the range and played 9 holes.Asthetics is not bad it does look humongous with the xtra silver cresent moon which i hear puts more mass behind the ball . I bought the Regular 9.5 *SQ with the diamana stiff, because I was going to upgrade with the blue board later. Anywayz the sounds at impact is medium pitched , not loud ping or canny like the Cobras. The distance I would say is the same as my ignite, but I was swinging at 60%. I just recovered from a lower respiratory infection , so I was taking it easy. I managed to hit 5/7 fairways for 9 holes withdrives ranging from 280-290. (1hole was a par 4 370 yards. I only had 70 yards with a 3/4 sand wedge). I felt more in control with the clubhead. For some reason the ball would go straight with a little 5 yards fade tailing at the end. could have been the wind. Next time out im going to give it a little more.
Distance 9/10
control 8/10
Forgiveness 8/10
playabitlity 9/10 - I felt comfortable with the low profile.
Took my TM R5 DUAL to the range today, hit half a bucket of balls and snaped the shaft, at the hosel. I stashed the rest of the balls behind a tree and went and bought a NIKE SQ 10.5 reg.,came back and hit the rest of the balls. Results, the SQ was about 15 yds longer than the TM and more forgiving on poor hits. I tend to hit a lot of balls close to the toe, on the TM this hit was going to slice hard, same spot on the SQ and I had a slight fade.
Bottom Line-- The SQ is long and it really wants to go straight. Nike has a winner.
Played 9 holes yesterday , and managed to hit 6 out of 7 fairways with some coming shy of a couple 320 yard par 4's. The forgiveness on this club is amazing. My bad swings even managed to find the fairway!
i kind of like the size of the clubhead. i tend to think it is a lighter weight clubhead. am i wrong? for you 95-110ss guys hitting a sasquatch, how many more degrees in loft did you drop in comparison with your previous driver? If you hit a 10.5 TM, would you hit a 9.5 SQ? Thanks!
