Re: Cobra Speed Driver Review

Has anyone had the benefit of comparison between the '06 and the '07 speed driver?

I've been driving the ball better then ever of late with the '06 model F-Speed. However, the ball flight has been a little low (I have the 10.5 loft). Looking at this year's model, the clubhead seems to have a lot of its mass in the back which looks like it promotes a higher ballflight than last year's model.

I'm hesitant to mess with a good thing b/c I have been booming my tee shots with very good accuracy lately. But was wondering if anyone has played both and if they even feel that much different from each other.

Also, I'll throw out there that I usually hit my driver terrible at the range but fantastic on the golf course.

Re: Cobra Speed Driver Review

I haven't had the chance to try the new one yet but I am tempted. I am not sure whether it would be a benefit or not as I am starting to really get my swing together. To be worth spending £230 the new one would need to give the same accuracy and another 25 yards, cannot see it.

I played 6 holes on Monday night and have just been trying to relax. The 3rd was playing 430 and will a light breeze following I only had 125 to the centre of the green. It could be the longest drive I have hit with this club (and middle of fairway :) ) I dont think I currently need any more distance and am quite happy with the accuracy atm.

Re: Cobra Speed Driver Review

I've hit them both, but only indoors on a launch monitor.
I really liked the 06 F Speed and was trying to decide between that and the TaylorMade R5. Even though the LD was out of my target price range, I was curious, so I decided to hit a few with it. I hit 5 balls and said "I'll take it" before I even looked at the monitor results. Then I checked the computer and it had me hitting that club 10-15 yds further than both the R5 and the 06 F Speed and a little bit straighter as well.

I will warn you though that this club is LOUD. I think the masking tape they used must have deadened the sound a bit because I took it to the range this morning and after about 20 drives, I was considering getting earplugs.

Re: Cobra Speed Driver Review

I purchased the King Cobra Speed Pro D with NVS stiff shaft in X 8.5*. I've played three rounds with this driver. WOW! We've had a lot of rain lately and most drives are plugging in the fairway so with a Sky Caddie on my hip I know how far I'm air carrying this driver. I'm getting consistent numbers, 265-268 yards. This is 12 to 15 yards farther than my Callaway FT-5. The dispersion is tighter, too. Great driver!
