Definatly try this one out, the design does not seem to be a gimmick
I just purchased the Hibore a few weeks ago. It has the speeder 652 shaft, stiff flex, 9.5 degree. The Hibore is absolutely amazing. I hit several demos and this club is by far and away the best I hit. I'm not going to try to act like a scratch golfer, but I consistently hit 300 yards dead straight off the tee and as far as 330. I sometimes slice but I think I've sliced maybe once or twice with this club. Even though it is an expensive club, it makes the round so much more enjoyable.
I used to play with the Callaway Great Big Bertha Warbird so it is an older club. I probably hit around 270 on average and once in a while maybe cracked 300 (sometimes I question the yardage accuracy at some courses). Oh, and I definitely sliced or hooked with a much higher frequency.
I reciently went to a Cleveland Van demo. They had the launch monitor set up on the range so you were not hitting into a net. They were demoing the HiBore driver with every possible shaft combination. I was interested because I have never been able to get comfortable with my Nike SQ. So I went in and just started swinging sticks. I liked the way the HiBore sets up, and was amazed at the difference the shafts made in the ball flight. I started out with the factory fuji shafts and was not to impressed, I had a lot of balls leaking to the right. Switched to the NVS shaft and this was an inprovement, straighter ball flight but tended to balloon. Next stop was the ProLaunch shaft. I love this shaft, it has a high boring flight that doesnt balloon. Even on poor hits that should have sliced the most I got was a slight fade. This combination tries to take the right side out of play. As far as distance goes I picked up about 20 yards over the Nike SQ. Bottom line is HiBore outpreformes Nike, Taylormade and Callaway. If you get a chance compare these clubs side by side, Cleveland has the real deal with the HiBore.
^ thats just vijays prefernece launcha. His swing is much different than any of ours. The everyday amateur can benefit from high and straight , but vijay i hear rather work the ball.
Isn't it safe to say that you may have had the same success with the Nike driver if given the chance to test out a lot of shafts? I am envious of your opportunity to use one of the tour vans, has to be great feeling knowing you got exactly what you need, and no second guessing.
i have a 9.5 hibore with the stock fuji stiff shaft and i hate it(slice!!) i went to demo it with a differnt shaft, all they had was the V2 in regular flex. i love it, it does feel a little whippy but i was not slicing, just slight fades, once in a while. i love the trejectory of this club. i gotta get that shaft.
I have a 9.5 with the Proforce V2 Stiff shaft... Great driver when my swing is on. has the distance and gets the ball up. If you plan on getting one make sure you get fitted with the right shaft.
I have had my HiBore for about a month and really love it. I switched from a Nike SQ and lost about 10 yds but the HiBore is much easier to keep in the fairway. Get fitted the shaft makes a huge difference in this club.
Firstly, it's not so new anymore, anything older than a couple of months seems ready for replacement these days. Vijay seems to have dumped his in favour of the old launcher, and Rockbottom golf have them on clearance already. I've heard a few good things, but lots of people seem to think it's not a particularly long club. I hope it's nothing to do with the V2 shaft, cos I'm getting one of those shafts in my next driver.
I've never used the Hibore, just passing on what I've seen and heard. Can't comment on it personally.
Try it out if you can. You might want to get a lower loft with this club...it hit too high for me and too short. I had the 10.5 loft, though. I switched back to 8.5 loft that I had been using for years and went with a TM 425 after the HiBORE.
