Northwestern Pro Plus 10

I know. I know. This is the one from the old Golf Channel infomercials. Don't let that fool you.
I picked it up for less than $20 (US) off the used rack at the golf shop. It was money well spent.
It's quite possibly the longest, most forgiving driver I've ever hit. I was hitting clubs into greens that I'd never hit into them before. For those who don't believe a club can add 20 yards to your drive, all I can say is, I was one of you before today. Now, I believe.
There's only one thing I truly dislike about it - the sound. It's loud, and sounds like an aluminum baseball bat when you hit the ball. I annoyed people all over the golf course with it, and could care less. I guess I'll get used to it, but until then, I'll live with it.

Congrats on the driver. I just purchased a Titleist Driver 975D for $20 too! It's supposed to be in good shape also. I am starting to wonder how much is just marketing about these so called "best drivers". I know they probably use better materials but if it gets the job done, who cares?

Re: Northwestern Pro Plus 10

I've hit the old 975D (though it's been quite a few years back), and it's a fine driver. I think it's made of 6A4V titanium (6% aluminum, 4% vanadium). Nothing wrong with that, as I've never met anyone who's actually broken the titanium in one.
The Plus 10 has a Beta titanium face (which alloy, I have no idea), and I like the distance and forgiveness of it. The shaft is a Precision FM in stiff flex, and it even came from the factory with a Lamkin Crossline grip.
One of my playing partners laughed today when I told him it was a Northwestern club. He stopped laughing the first time I hit the ball. Sweet.
