TaylorMade Tour Burner

I am lucky enough to actually test out the new TaylorMade Tour Burner TP Driver today at the Kingdom (Taylormade's private driving range). I was skeptical at first of the design but the engineers knew what they were doing. I hit about 40 balls with the new driver, both TP and non TP version with the stock stiff shaft. What stood out to me most is how they designed the club to minimize any spin. Even on mishits, the ball would still come out fairly straight. I tried powering one as far as possible and knew i had sliced it pretty bad at the moment of impact. It did leak to the right but not as far as my R7 driver would. All and all, I would say its definately worth a look for any golfers who is experiencing too much spin out the box. The release date for the club is mid april as i was told so we'll have to wait to line up the Burner vs the Tour Burner. As for distance, I was hitting against the wind and it was carrying roughly 260-270 yds. I was wearing my work clothes of loafers and no golf gloves. Usually i swing around 105 mph but I did tone it down some at their range so i didnt embarrass myself.

Anyways, go ahead and post up your reviews when you get a chance too. Cheers

Re: TaylorMade Tour Burner

Played my first round with my new Burner (non-TP) Sunday and was amazed with how well I hit the ball. Last season my driving game completely fell apart when I bought the R580XD and I really didn't enjoy golf anymore. I never liked the driver but I felt like I was making excuses if I said that the driver was my only problem. One round with my Burner and I am completely obsessed with golf again. The R580XD was junk and I'd only get 200 yards carry with about 5-10 yards roll. My last 3 drives on Sunday carried 270-185 and rolled anywhere from 20 to 30 yards. It took about 4 drives to adjust, but I was straight as an arrow after that initial feeling out phase.

I attribute this comepltely to the Burner.

Re: TaylorMade Tour Burner

Hated my TaylorMade Quad, it was supposed to the the best thing since sliced bread that could toast & butter itself, but nothing could be further from the truth...

Really would like to try the Tour Burner & it was the original Burner that I really prefered in the shop, but was won over by the fact you could move the weights round, even though I was a little dubious as to what the effects of that might actually be.

Should have gone with my gut instinct.... & bought the original Burner at the time...

Will see if there is one on a demo at Branston.

Re: TaylorMade Tour Burner

I just bought the Burner today and must say its amazing... With my previous driver ( Callaway ERC Fusion) I had a huge slice... Now with the burner i'm hitting further and as straight as an arrow!! I couldn't believe how well i was hitting it!

Re: TaylorMade Tour Burner

I have been playing the Tour Burner TP 9.5 with Diamana shaft now for a few rounds. I like the way it feels, it goes long, but not much better than my G2 if at all. All things equal with the G2 its a good replacement as the feel is much better and its attractive to look at.

My gripe is that the TP line up logo looks so close to the heel of the club. It feels and looks awkward and somehoe I seem to be hitting it off the toe more. It will take some time to get it down pat.

Expensive club though. I have also been toying with the Callaway FT-5 with the Diamana shaft. That club is straight as an arrow, but doesn't get the roll of the TB TP. If it did I would use it...G2 is still a great driver is what I realized. Totally underated.
