I don't own one, but I've demoed many 983K's and 983E's. I find that the SHAFT is the determining factor in this club. I get my best results with the YS-6 shaft in the 983K, 9.5*. The 983K is a solid, very controllable, and great feeling driver.

However - I don't think it's the most forgiving driver on earth. Many other drivers (TMade R5, Cobra 454 Comp, Ping G2, etc.) are much more forgiving on mis-hits than the 983K. I think the smaller head size hurts this driver from selling more to higher handicap players.

The BEST attribute of the 983K is the SOUND and FEEL at impact. The feeling is a wonderful, solid, "click", that doesn't sound as tinny and clanky as other drivers (Cobra, Cleveland, etc.) That is one of the most unique and satisfying feel/sounds in all of golf IMO.

Great stick, but I only gave it a birdie due to the forgiveness issue (to me, at least).

I swapped my 975J-VS for the 983E. Tried the K but did not like the look of the bigger head, even though it is only 15cc bigger than the E. The difference in really that the E has thh deeper face, making the club appear smaller.

Honestly this is by far the best driver I have ever owned. I have had well over 100 drivers in the last 10 years, and I have been playing this one for nearly 2 full seasons. I may switch to the 905, but who knows when that will be out. Especially now that these are being marked down--- buy a back up! It's worth it.

So I went ahead and bought one off of Ebay from 3balls.com. It had minor scratches, but otherwise in good shape. The shaft is a Fujikura Vista stiff? That's all I can remember from work.

Took it out to the range before my round last Thursday. Hit about five balls, but none of them were very good. Down to the last ball. I took a nice swing and....the head flew off about 50 yards away into the range! Argg..

Looks like they didnt do a very good job putting in the shaft. Now I gotta take it into a shop to get fitted and put in a new shaft since it felt too stiff.

I have carried this club in my bag for some time now and finally fitted the correct shaft to it. I'm hitting a Stiff Harrison Low Launch shaft and the ball comes out great. Excellent distance and control. I've been told that this driver is for the lower marker but completely disagree. If you haven't tried one then get out there and try one.

Just demoed this yesterday (yes, I'm a couple years late), and I'm taking it to Myrtle Beach next week for nine rounds in five days. I've been using the 975J for many years now and it's a great club, but I'm looking to maximize distance with the proper ball/driver combo.

983K, it's like cheating. That's all I can say. The face is so much hotter, the sweet spot so much bigger, no loss of control for me at all. I could not have been more impressed. I've never been lacking for distance but the ball goes so far with this club it's just funny

I demoed this club just for fun. I currently have a 975D but wanted to try the 983K just to see how much better it was. I was a tad bit longer off the tee. My average went from about 280 to about 290~ I did find it easier to hit though, most likly because of the larger face. The only problem I had with it is just for some reason I couldn't shape my shots quite as well. This club is still a 5 out of 5.

Well, I stand corrected. I'm not sure if it was the shaft or my swing, but I could not land a ball inside Gillet Stadium for most of the week with this club. I hadn't played a round since September but for the first five rounds I struggled to keep it in the low 80's due mostly to errant tee shots and the resulting punch-outs and penalty strokes. The shaft felt soft (stock speeder in S flex) and the swing weight felt all wrong as well. I could miss it both ways, and while the ball screamed off the face, that only put me further into the forest

Thursday I went back to my 975J and the remaining rounds were all well under 80, and while I still left my fair share of strokes out there, I could not blame it on any one club.

Ahh well, here's to the 905!

Maybe.

My husband got one , used it today on our home course. Farthest drives he ever had! Once he got the feel for it, was hitting 300+ consisently, about 40 more than reg. Wind at his back on a downhill par 5 was 417!Only "problem" was he really had to adjust short game! We did wait a little longer before teeing off, didn't want to hit anyone!

Titleist 983K

I have this in 8.5 degrees and stiff Titleist Speeder shaft. Love the combo. However, am thinking that if i were to upgrade to a 905 series driver, i wouldn't be able to find the same shaft. Does anyone know which other shaft plays similar to the Titleist Speeder? I ask for help because i cannot get fit in my country for shafts, nor can i try out drivers easily without buying them first. Any help would be greatly appreciately.

Thanks,
Rao.

yea just pull the shaft from the 983 and put it in your new driver. would be about a 30 dollar job at a club maker.

Or buy your own puller and do it your self.

I bought one off ebay for 60 or 70 that is great.
