I definitely have to get this thing reshafted. When I swing slow its fine but if I try to rip it the thing slices like a maniac. With that aside I still get every so often those long and straight shots. Beautiful Stupid me also got it in the regular flex when I really need stiff. Any suggestions on a shaft or I pretty much have to find one that fits me. Thanks

if your hitting it high and have a swing speed of 105 the NV is a pretty good shaft

Your problems were exactly the same ones I was afflicted with when my new driver was delivered.Off to my local fitter/builder." Precision Golf Solutions " here in Gainesville , FL. Ricky Strain informed me that the mass production of drivers does nothing for your swing. The vast majority of stock shafts are all over the board in their flexes. A Pro fitter will test the shaft for proper flex and also " true " or spine align the shaft so that it flexes accurately.
My stock " stiff " shaft , Fujikura Hyperlite Blue , tested as barely past regular , has been replaced with a UST Harmon Tour Design CBS Stiff with a Mid Kickpoint. The results are AMAZING ! Like night & day.

Put a Purple Ice shaft in there. The longest drives i ever hit were with that combo.

Keep in mind I am fairly new to the game.

with that said, **** this club head is HUGE. I hit the ball better with my cheap walmart driver than this one. I thought with a larger head I am able to hit it better but I was wrong.
it's come to the point where I don't even use it anymore. I use my callaway X 3 wood as my club off the tee.

you just need to learn how to hit it. maybe even re-shaft it. I put a UST proforce V2 65 stiff in there recently and its great. But it definitely takes some time to get used to.

I have that one. Got it at Dick's for $150. I used to have an r7, but since I am still pretty new to the game, I really couldn't do justice to that driver. I feel like this 580XD is way more forgiving. Either that, or I am actaully getting a bit better. I seem to be hitting the ball way straighter now.

580XD still a keeper

I went to Golfsmith today and hit a few drivers - looking to replace the 580XD with some newer technology. I hit the TM R5 and Ping G5. Neither one performed any better than the 580XD.

It will stay in the bag for a while longer.

I just bought a used R580 XD off ebay in great shape. Buddy on another forum gave me a Reax Rombax TP R flex shaft for it.

I can't wait to try that combo!!

March will be 2 years with my R580XD in the bag. It's been through a multitude of shafts in an attempt to find the "right" one, but it's still in use.
I bought an r7 460 a couple months ago & the 580XD came out of the bag for a few weeks. The r7 is now gone. The 580XD is longer, just as forgiving, and at the price you can get one for now, probably one of the best buys in golf.
