I use this driver. It is so forgiving and confidence inspiring that I can just "grip it and rip it." Mishits still go pretty far and my problems with skys and hits off of the toe are no more.

I've had the 580XD (10.5 degrees) for a couple of months now. I couldn't hit it straight with the stock shaft, but once I found the shaft that worked for me (Apache MS40+ firm) it is the longest, most forgiving driver I've hit. It replaced a Callaway VFT driver, and outperformed most of the new Callaway drivers I've demo'd.

Some of my friends have used it, and most like it, but some have remarked that the head is so big it distracts them.

Personally, I don't see it coming out of my bag in the near future.

the head is 400cc. not that big i don't think. Hopefully not too big, i've got one coming from ebay. I hit the 540 and it didn't seem too big. How big is that head?

the head on the R580 and R540XD are 400cc. The R580XD is 440 cc.

Have now played 2 rounds with my new 580XD. I switched from a Callaway VFT and I notice a HUGE difference. This club gives me a lot more confidence off the tee, and if very forgiving. My distance is still very inconsistent (but now ranges from 250-330), the trajectory has been VERY consistent. Long and straight is a plesent change from the sweeping slices I suffered from occasionally before. I have yet to mishit this club (tops, shanks etc.) as was too common an occurance with my old driver.

I would recomment this club to anyone who walks up to the tee box dreading where the ball will end up. It has improved my game incredibly already!!!

I've been using this club for a couple of months now, and I have to say it has changed the game for me. I'm usually 250 off the tee and straight now, and before I had to use a 5 wood because I'd always slice a driver. I love this club!

i know this thread is a little old, but here goes.

i got my 580xd from 3balls.com & it's the longest & straightest driver i've ever hit. i demo'ed with the stock shaft & didn't like it, so when i ordered i got the purple ice shaft and it's an awesome combo.

very easy to turn the ball either way, doesn't look too big at set up, & only cost $170 usd. highly recommend to anyone.

I got mine for Xmas for my g/f. I went out for a hit with it when it had the stock shaft, it was ugly, but then I stuck a Harrison stripper stiff in it and it launchs long like a rocket. You can give her the ol' john daly swing and the mishits rnt that bad

haven't tried the kuehne shaft, but it was an option. i would assume with his name on it it's probably not for my swing. when i ordered, i had the golfsmith catalogue in front of me, checking the shaft specs. i came to the conclusion(right or wrong) that the purple ice was the best fit for me. low kick point, made for oversized, high launch drivers, and good control. sounded about right. and at that price i figured, what the heck, if i've really ******* up. i can reshaft.

I bought my 580XD last night for a bargain £134 from the store at my local range.

Even with the standard graphite shaft I'm hitting 270 yards first bounce, and driving consistantly down the middle. For the money, this driver is a beauty, and the TaylorMade head cover get's noticed a lot too! Love this piece of kit, absolutely brilliant driver.

I switched to the 580XD from my Titleist 975D that I'd had for years. 20 more yards easy... I still have the stock shaft on it, but it works for me so I figure if it ain't broke don't fix it... Awesome driver, and cheap nowadays.
