im a Taylor Made sponsored player & i was currently using a stnd. R7 TP until last week i received a R7 TP (shallow faced) driver from Taylor Made. it is more or less the same face as the HT but it TM will not release the R7 TP (shallow faced) drivers for retail. since my change ive found it easier to work the ball & have found to reduce my spin to keep the ball in the air longer. i think all should give the HT a try.
driver: Taylor Made R7 TP 9.5*(shallow face) w/Fujikura SIX shaft

as of right now ive only got 13 clubs in the bag, i used to have a v-steel t/s 13* 3-wood instead of the 14*rescue and at that time my iron set was the rac mb 3-pw, i decided not to carry a 3iron due to the fact ive found i never hit it, maybe 1/2 times every 5 rounds. so as of right now the only though of a 14th club would be a 21*hybrib possibly? have you got any suggestions for a 14th club in my bag? although depending on the conditions at the tour event i will pull out the 19*rescue tp for a 2-iron.
When TaylorMade starts shipping their r7drivers to me (instead of me paying $500-800 a pop) I'll play them too!
you do have a good point there, i must say that $800- for a tour driver is a bit much, but the again if it works & preforms best for you wouldnt you shell out the dough? before i turned pro i was the one shelling out the money, so i thought its time taylor made helped me out after all these years from me helping them out
I love your bag setup and even though it is only one club less...I'll bet your caddie likes it too. My caddie used to make me switch out from my staff bag to a carry bag for tournaments...ME Open, VT Open, NHPGA Championship, NH Open, etc...mostly smaller events like that. However, since he was working gratis, I humored him.
My only question would be with your wedge setup and how big of a gap the 6 degree increments create. But if your yardages are dialed in based on that setup then who am I to question. As a personal preference, I like to see the smaller increments in wedges so that there are fewer "less than full" swings required in the scoring zone.

my wedge setup used to be 48/52/56, but i found that the only club i was really getting any use out of was the 56. i hit a 52gw 120yards with a full swing, finding that on par 4's, in turn i am long off the tee, id find myself hitting a full 56sw mostly all the time, & chipping around the green & out of bunkers i only used my 56sw. i figured by going with a 48/54/60 set up id have a club from 130/110/95 yards, & from 100yards in i could choose my ball flight & use each of the 3 according. most of all is that i would now have 2 wedges to use out of a green side bunker. i still have much needed work to do on yardages & so on when the weather clears, more snow coming thursday, ARGH! but i have seen quite a few tour players bags with 48/54/60 wedge setups like Zack Johnson/Sergio Garcia/ect.
Seems like a bit of a gimmick to me. I played it, and yes it was a good club, but for the money I'd ask for a lot more. I'd rather have the new MacGregor or Titleist.

YUCK! i would never touch a MacGregor as for the Titleist i have 2 prototype 905s drivers, they look nice but dont come close to preforming like a R7. your probably going to say, "of course this guys gonna say Taylor Made b/c thats his sponsor.". but if i found a better driver id use it, just toss the R7 headcover over it. the R7 is the #1 driver played on every major professional tour not to mention has the most wins worldwide. so how can you question a driver w/ a resume like that? you cant!

Is it a good idea for an aspiring pro to be burning those MacGregor bridges?
Hey, where'd you get the 905 prototypes and what can you tell us about them? The 905s are a pretty hot item right now....how can I get my hands on one?
I have had my r7 HT 9.5* for over a month now, I used to hit a Cleveland Launcher 460. I have noticed dramatic increase in my yardage (230->260) and it never felt "empty" when you hit it wrong, more forgiving that my 460 somehow. Price a little overpriced but its worth it.
My dad who could slice a wedge introduced me to the r7. He was raving about his new club/toy that saved his game. When I played with him, he was effectively playing a new course despite it being his home course for the last 20 years. His drives were so much longer and straighter resulting in approach shots that were coming in from new unseen territories.
Of course I could not resist. After a few shots with his, I quickly bought my own with 1 degree less loft and neutral weight setting (dad was set for a draw). We both have the stiff shaft. I like the look of 400 vs. the mammoth 460 cc heads out there (G2!). The large clubface promotes a solid/confident feel that I was lacking with my Big Bertha. My distance has improved 10-15 yards to boot.
Assisting in the purchase is the Scotland trip next month. Bring on the Road hole!
I love this driver. This is the most accurate driver I have ever hit. And thats saying a lot the way I go through them. Its up there for length. Its not the longest I've had but when you figure in accuracy though its a mile ahead.
I don't really find the weights do a lot.I have mine set up neutral low and I can just bomb it. The only bad comment I've had from my mates that have hit it is that it is quite head heavy. But I prefer that so it doesn't worry me
I just switched to an R7 9.5* stiff shaft this weekend. I've been using the R5 N 9.5* stiff, but wanted something that gave a little more feedback.
I tested them side by side at the range and found that I carried both about the same distance, but the R7 definitely gave me more roll with my swing/ball combination (Pro-V1). The R7 is a little less forgiving than the R5, especially since it's a little smaller.
I went and demo'd this driver today and walked out with a brand new one (stiff flex). After a few warmup shots that went about two hundred yards, but straight, I really started slamming balls almost to the end of the range which is 265 yards and all carry. Because this particular range is all water with some islands to shoot at, it's impossible to say what kind of roll I got with this club. However, upon asking the manager how much distance is lost with his range balls he said he would be confident in saying 15%. That means that I was hitting this driver close to 300 (if not more) yards and amazingly straight. My usual drives (when I would really connect) would go about 275-290 at the very best.
I kept hitting balls expecting sooner or later that I would hit some really poor shots, but out of 36, I hit only two or three shot that would have left virtually any fairway.
I too was one who believed that the weights and adjustment feature on the club were gimmicky. I figured that it was just a new marketing ploy for "THE NEXT BIG THING". But Adams and several other well known club manufacturers are going with this style of driver so I think it speaks well of the design of the club. Besides, I was crushing some pretty crusty "floater" type range balls a long way and super straight, and that's all that matters with any driver.
My former driver was good and solid weapon and I'll keep it around for emergency purposes. It was a Callaway Steelhead III and I was able to hit good shots with it. But it will now be semi-retired to the garage in favor of the Taylor Made R7 Quad.
