Been playing the r7 425 all season and am finally loving it, took a grip change to get the most out of it for me. Seems like the TM stock rubber grips never gave me the control I needed. I've lost a few yards with the r7 over my Launcher but i'll sacrifice it for the middle of the fairway everytime. Might remove the reax shaft and try something else, overall good driver and great appearance.
My dad has got one of these and hes very possesive over it, though when i did hit a couple shots it felt reall good. It looks so nice aswell when you address the ball with it you fell a million dollars.
i just bought the TM R7 draw club. i went in today and was surpirsed when i saw it, since i didnt know there was a new R7. i am thinking this is better than the r5 but worse than the r7 quad? any thoughts? and do the wieghts move in this club? thanks
I purchased an R7 Draw last week, I played a round with it on Saturday and tried to post a review of it on here but it still has not come up. Just to sum up though, it is the BEST driver I have ever hit. It has a high arc, but I am going to get the shaft replaced with a NV, so that out to flatten it out a bit.
Today was fun.
Background - My brother-in-law won a new r7 460 9.5* driver in his company golf tournament. He already had one. For weeks, he's been trying to sell the old one, which has a couple of small scratches. Today, he offered it to me cheap, so I tried it out.
The weights - He had it set up for draw, with a 14 gram weight in the heel, and a 2 gram weight in the toe. This setup had me afraid to hit the ball, as the face was turning over much too early for me. After swapping the weights around, I quickly became fearless.
This thing is awesome, but only if it's set up right for you. High, beautiful draws were the norm after swapping the weights. Low duck-hooks were the norm before the swap.
Of the (literally) dozens of new drivers I've hit, this is the one that's going to replace my old R580XD in the bag. I can't think of any higher praise I can give the club than that.
I purchased a used R7 Quad yesterday and I realized the weights in them are all 2's. However, I saw a picture of the 425 on the TM website and the weights on the trailing edge had 12's in them while the leading edge had 2's. Do I have to go buy some 12's or does the original quad's have all of them stuffed with 2's?
I have had this driver for sometime now. I absoulutly love it. I can hit farther and more accurate. I have no complaints except how much i paid for it :)
I bought the wife the HT and she loves it. Makes me wish I had one lol. And I can't complain about the price either! Picked it up brand new, still in wrapping for $120. And yes I'm positive its real and not a fake ;)
Replaced a Launcher 400 with the R7 Quad. Though the same clubhead size, the R7 clearly has more hitting area on the face, and is much taller (deeper?) than the Launcher. As such I can tee it up fearlessly and not worry about either skying or topping the ball. I played a round and a half a few days ago with it and not one ball was shanked out of about 20 shots with it.
The look at address is awesome, and it just feels great taking it out of the headcover and realizing you're about to hit this basher of a golf club.
I am as satisfied as can be with it, even if it is a 3-year-old or so model. It still knocks the stuffing out of the ball.
