Hi There,

I'm writing from Sydney, OZ and first time I joined a golf forum. Actually the reason for doing that is to ask if anyone has changed shafts in there GBB11. I have a relatively quick swing and find I lose it right. Have Rifle 6.0 shafts in irons and hit them straight. Has anyone changed to a stiffer shaft in the driver, I'm currently looking at the Aldila NZ-75 stiff. Does anyone know of any better options.

Cheers Stewart

I am about to trade-in my Taylor Made 320Ti for the Callaway 415. I have heard mixed reviews. Do you think that I will feel a difference. I already hit it long, I just want to keep it in the fairway more often, do you think this is a good choice?
Thanks,

Corey

From what I have read the 454 might be a better choice for forgiveness. This site offers some pretty decent customer reviews.

Thanks. However, I just bought new X18 irons. I think I can get the 415 for $125 new. If I spend any more on golf clubs this year I will get shot.

Picked a GBBII Pro Series 8.5° with a strong stiff shaft from Golfsmith for $65. Since the grip was so worn, they even replaced it with a regular Winn G8 for free!

I had a regular GBB 9° previously, and most of my misses would hook (or "power draw" as I like to call it ), so I figured a slightly open face would help relieve that. I also have trouble hitting the huge 460cc drivers, so this was a nice size upgrade.

Another gripe I have with most drivers today is the sound the ball makes with the clubhead. A few years ago, I used to hit the old school Big Bertha. The wonderful *tink!* sound it made on a solid hit was the best sound in the world. The GBB also made that wonderful sound. Most of the newer drivers today, probably due to the 400+cc sizes, make more of a *clank!* sound (or a metallic *thud!* when I tried the FT-3 Fusion Driver), which doesn't sound very pleasant to my ears. The GBBII is kind of between a *tink!* and *clank!*, so it's somewhat acceptable--I'm sure I'll get used to it.

The three drives I really spanked yesterday had a nice, medium-height ball flight with just a slight draw. The other drives were pull-draws which I attributed to my aching back.

I can't wait to lay out some bombs once my back is better. Two for me!

I always lose it right and changed to this shaft also on my HiBore... This shaft will help you, I am totally sure.

I have this club, still. It is a solid, dependable driver with good distance and forgiveness. The best driver I ever owned was the Titleist 975D. I had it before anyone realized tiger was using it after he went to Nike. That club was sweet and very workable. The Callaway is not ba, either, for working. It is easier, however, to draw than to fade--I think due to a draw bias. It's March of '07 and I'll be playing this probably another season. The next driver I own will probably be the square FT-i, or at least the FT-3.

Re: Callaway Great Big Bertha II Driver Review

I love this club it is by far one of the best drivers I have hit. The ball flight is perfect and when you hit it good it flies off the tee.
