Cobra 454 SZ Driver Review

Took my C4 driver in for re-gripping on Saturday, the pro gave me a Cobra SZ 454 Comp to borrow - reg 45g shaft, low kick, 10.5 deg.

This club is supposed to long and straight - I did not find it to be so. It hits the ball miles into the air, mega high, but no distance at all. I'd say I lost 20-30 yards on my normal driver.

This will be a great club for anyone who struggles off the tee anyway, especially for height. To be any good for someone who does not have a problem hitting the ball in the air, you would need a much heavier shaft, less loft, and probably the 414 head size.

I'll be looking at other manufacturer's for my next driver...

I am interested in this one. It feels very light with that 45g Mitsubishi Rayon shaft. Will try and demo one at the range tomorrow.

So I tried it out this morning and was not impressed. I guess it felt too light and felt like I was swinging a feather.

I just got my Cobra 454 yesterday. I had it shafted with the Graphite Design Y6+, regular flex, -.75 inches.

I like it alot. MUCH easier to hit than my 2003 Callaway Ti driver. I have to really overswing to slice it. Good lookin as well.

Although I have read people dont like the sound, I didnt think it sounded much different from other Ti drivers.

I do wish the head was more streamlined, it looks bigger than 454cc. The head looks bloated.

I think its a bit overpriced as well. Im not sure its worth the extra $100 it costs over many other drivers, however, no buyers remorse here. I'll be in the fairways all this weekend and will most likely be back down into the low 90's again.

I gave it a "birdie" due to the bloated head and bloated price.

I loved this club because I hit my first ball over 300 yards (on camera for school project for the Laws of Motion).

Long but need different shaft

I love this driver. Picked up a new one on EBay with Mitsubishi Rayon shaft - stiff. After playing it 2 months these are my obervations:
It's a long, and though I was coming from an older Taylormade, it's easily 20-40 yds longer - consistently. Ball flight is a bit higher than I'm used to, but the ball just keeps going and going. The sound it makes is high pitched, irratating on an indoor range, no biggie on the course. As an experiment I borrowed a demo version with a Reg shaft - am now looking for an Aldila NVS reg to put in mine. Although I hit the stiff well, the reg had similar results and I didn't feel like I was working as hard to do it.

Hey! Whats this 'Weekend Duffer' label the forum gave me?!! I've played over 60 rounds this year already!!

I tested one out and I really didn't like this driver (with the stiff Mitsubishi Rayon shaft)
I liked the 460 SZ and 440 SZ awhole lot better than this one.
To me I don't think it was very easy to hit as others
So I gave it a 2 (personal opinion)
