Yeah I had my first one and broke it within a month( defect). I was swinging in my front yard and had a tee in front of the club and slipped or something and put a hole the size of the top of the tee in the toe of the club. But now I have my new one and hit it very well( haven't brke this one). I am thinking about getting the new FT-3 Fusion.
I finally got a large head driver. I've been playing mostly my Taylormade Tour 300 Deep Face (360cc) driver or my Callaway BBII 380cc driver. I still have to get used to looking down at this driver, the head looks pretty large to me! I hit it for the first time the other day and felt very confident over the ball. The ball comes off the face very *HOT* and most of my drives went straight and some a very nice draw. I love the sound it makes at impact... LOUD smack! So far the driver works well and is sooo easy to hit. Plays longer then my BBII and my Taylormade Tour 300. I think I'll get used to the large head in time.
Whats In The Bag Now?

Just starting using my 454 last week. Started off bad due to having ball teed to high. Once I lowered the ball a little, started getting some nice draws. I would normally hit my drives around 270 but hit several 290 to 300+ drives while playing over the weekend. If you can get used to the larger head its a great feeling club.
Adding my comments on this driver from elsewhere:
1. the shaft selection is very important but for this reason; a shaft too stiff for your swing speed will feel like hitting with a board. This head is HARD, something I did not expect with a big driver with a max cor.
2. the face gives the old bulge and roll. This is a flight that I have not experienced lately. Old hard headed clubs used this to promote getting miss-hits back to fairway territory and to work the ball. This big head does that as well - but unexpectedly so - nice.
3. swing hard and be rewarded.
4. the sweet spot rewards most noticably.
I tried the Fusion (at 325 cc) and definitely preferred this 454. I expect the FT-3 to be better and should be for the added cost. However I think this is a great club for me especially changing to either G-D YS6 or Grafalloy Protocomp NT. The shaft is a matter of launch & feel but this club head is terrific.
this is in my opinion the best driver out there right know. i prefer this driver over the super high tech and over rated (overrated...overrated) Taylor-Made driver. Keep it straight and simple non of the weight and wrench mumbo jumbo. As a beginner who has been playing for 7 months, I can whack the ball a good 200 yards with this club. also fairly straight. If you like Taylor-Made, please do not be offended, this is just my preference and experience.
Much as I love my 454, it seems to have abandoned me for the first time during this wonderful relationship.
I did everything I possibly could. I tried to keep my side "love" happy as long as I could. But the wife just wasn't having us share our domicile.
I sacrificed time with my family, I short cutted my work, I snuck out during lunches to spend time with her, but nooooooo......somewhere between the day we made such beautiful music together and now, my beloved has become a stranger in my hands.
No longer do we see the same fairway. No longer do we see the same "future" during a round. She wants to go right, I want to plow straight ahead. She sometimes wants to go left.
I guess I shall be patient, for I am committed. And I have faith in her.
I bought one of these but never could hit worth a ****! Hit EVERYTHING right so I traded it for a R7. Good luck with this club(454) just didn't like it.

I have a 10* RCH 65 (stock) shaft and I will say that I hit the ball for good distance but I cannot control the large clubhead to consistently be straight in the fairway. More often I hit to the right with it. I use a smaller Orlimar TriMetal+ with a stiff shaft and though shorter I am usually straighter. I will work on my mechanics a little more over the offseason before I rule out using it next spring.
The 454 is an absolutely awesome driver!! Mine has the NV-65 stiff 9 degree. Great shaft to go with this head.
I get low, penetrating trajectory that seems to keep rising with lots of roll. I may never own another driver again....This is the real deal!!
