I had the opportunity to demo the new Bertha 454 driver yesterday and was very very impressed with it. I hit the 9 degree with Aldila NV65 Stiff.
I was surprised with the distance and the solid feel of the club. I currently play a 580 XD Taylor Made 9.5 Degree Stiff and felt the 454 was about 10 or more yards longer, plus I hit 10 out of 14 fairways. I love this club. Let's hear how those of you that have tried it feel.
The 454 worked well in Dome,But I hit everything good at the dome. It feels solid. Ball seems to Rocket off the club. Found it on line for $279 and had Golfsmith match the Price. Looking forward to playing it on the course as soon as this Michigan Deep Freeze goes away
I just bought one today! I had a session on Golf Mart's launch monitor and hit my R7, the R5 w/aldila 65s, Ping G2, Cleveland launcher stock and aldila shaft, Cobra 454 comp, titleist 983k w/YS-6, and the Callaway 454. I had the most success with the Callaway. Average club speed was 102.3, ave ball speed was 148mph, ave distance was 257 yards, and all were straight. The Cobra 454 comp was a close second. Not only did the Callaway perform best, but I like the way it looks at address and it felt very comfortable.
May have spoke too soon. The 454 is a good driver but I think I may return it. It looked good on the launch monitor but on the driving range it wasn't working for me. I realize it's my swing but I'm hitting my R7 almost as far as straight but was slicing with the 454.
Had a go with the 454 on Saturday at te driving range - 10 degree firm flex - didn't notice anything special about it at all. My C4 (same spec) was as long really, and as accurate. Still feel the R5 is the best driver I'd had a chance to hit yet.
I am hoping to give this puppy a go soon. They are having a virtual longest drive contest @ Golf town here in town. You hit the 454 and if you win you get one!!. I own the BB Titanium 2004 and so far I love it. The 454 is supposed to be pretty forgiving. Well see.
I have used the new BB 454 on the range and twice on the golf course. This is one solid feeling and long driver. I tried on 2 courses where I play a lot and familiar with the yardages and with the 454, I found myself in places down the fairway where I've never been before. I just have to get used to the big head. My SS is 95 mph and this BB 454 has a Aldila NVS 65 - R flex which I really liked but may not be for stronger players.
I am new in this forum and I look forward to getting and contributing some input. Thanks.

Reason: spelling
I have been playing the Callaway 454 9* with Aldila NVS-65 Stiff flex for over a month now and I get more comfortable with the club all of the time. My average drive is 10 yds longer then my previous TM driver and I have had moderate success at working the ball left to right. I have been much more consistent and confident off the tee and am hitting driver on some holes where a 3 wood used to be my only option.
So far (1 month), this has been a VERY forgiving driver for me.
10*, 65W firm.
Still testing same model with 1" off to see if I can control the head better.
Hey guys,
I just got my 10 degree R flex this week and played my first round today. I loved this club. I hit the ball a good 30 yards further than my TM 420. I understand that its not all the hot face. I usually only use about a 3/4 swing in order to control my hits. With this driver I could give it a good full swing because even my mishits are almost dead on line. Judging from the ball marks on the face I am not sure I ever hit it in the sweet spot (doesnt say much for me I know) but I was stll able to keep it in the fairway. Now I am a high handicapper so as far as workability I couldnt tell you, I am still trying to master straight. But if you are like me and are looking for a forgiving long driver I recomend that you give it a try, its the best I've hit.
