the only way to tell the 2 drivers apart is...the 370cc model is listed in increments of .5 lofts!
the 400cc model only comes in lofts of whole numbers .
hope this helps!
so if u want the 400 model get it in a 8 degree 9 degree or 10 degree loft
I have tried out my friend's MP-001 400cc 10 degree and found it like someone else in an earlier posting to be a bit longer than my driver. In any event, it certainly is long and forgiving. But the extra length of the shaft takes a while to get used to.
Can anyone help with shaft selection for the MP-001 400cc???
I'm a 10 handicap, swingspeed 105 mph (with my trusty old T-zoid T3), fast tempo.
have no idea whether to get the Exsar Sixty or the Grafalloy Blue (planning on getting stiff shaft and 9 degrees.
Any thoughts you may have on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
Advance thanks.
I am not a big fan of the exsar 60 even though I think from memory they are almost exactly spec'd the same as the grafalloy. If they are your only 2 options I would suggest the grafalloy but would urge you to consider the aldila if you can find one to try.
People, please remember these forms are for reviews of a particular club. Shaft questions for clubs should be in the equipment or Clubmaking forums. Thanks!
I'm very tempted the local 2ndSwing has them for the $149 price and they had a Grafalloy Blue in the one...the listed them as 370 and 400cc on their display but I couldn't see how to determine which version was which on the clubheads and the guy working there was stymied too!
I know on the 460 version it's stamped on the toe...anyways, I'd like to get the 400cc version and would like to make sure if I did pull the trigger.
Any help would be appreciated...
I have been using the MP-001 400cc and it is outstanding. I have a stryper shaft reg flex and it is about 10yds longer and far more consistent than my old one.
I had been in the market for a new driver to replace my 975 J-VS for about a year now. I have been looking at all the 460cc models, hoping to get something a little more forgiving. I tried the Launcher 460, Launcher 460 comp, Ping G2, BB 454, several variations of the Cobra 460SS and 454 comp, Nicklaus 440 Air-Max, Adams Q4300, MacGregor Mac-Tec and the R-7. One of the local shops has a program for testing clubs. They'll let you take four different clubs out to the range if you leave a credit card with them. I liked several of the clubs. For me the G2 was the most forgiving. The BB 454 was the longest. The Cobra and Cleavland were long, the Cleavland was probably just behind the BB454 for length. The Nicklaus and Adams clubs did nothing for me. Overall I was leaning toward the R-7. The R-7 was giving me good length, and better forgiveness than I was getting with my 975. The problem I was seeing and I certain everyone else is experiencing, is the proliferation of club and shaft combinations. So I had pretty much settled on the R-7 and had been shopping around for a bargain. What I really wanted was the R-7 with the Graphite Design Purple Ice, regular flex. I was playing a round of golf and my partner noted how well I was hitting my Mizuno T-Zoid 3 wood. I was getting almost as much length off the tee with my Miz 3 wood as I was with my 975. The Miz has the stock Exsar Platinum shaft in a reg flex. I had my 975 re shafted with a UST 65 ATR (which was a mistake). So the next chance I had I went to a shop that has a launch monitor, and tried the Mizuno 460. It felt good, and the club speed and ball speed numbers were a little better than I had been getting with the other clubs. The Mizuno has the stock Exsar 60 shaft, reg flex. I had been trying all the other clubs with a stiff flex since my normal swing speed is in the 90 to 100 mph range. I just played my first round with the Miz and am very happy. I'm getting about 10 more yards and my normal fade has been reduced from 10 to 20 yards off line to about 5 to 10. Mis hits loose about 20 to 30 yards but stay on line. No monstrous slices out of bounds. Feel is almost non-existent, but that's compared to the 975. Overall the feel was comparable to the other drivers I had been trying. I'll accept the lack of feel if I hit more fairways. The ball flight is a little low even though I went to 10.5 degrees from the 9.5 on my 975. The club length looks much shorter at address and gives me more confidence. The Miz doesn't have any type of alignment markings, which I don't like but I can live with that.
Overall I think I got what I was looking for. I paid $150 for the Miz, which is about half what I was going to pay for the R-7. Everybody seems to hate the Exsar shafts but they work for me. I may wind up re-shafting the Miz with a Purple Ice, but for now I don't see a need. If your in the market for a new driver give the Miz a swing. The new Mx-500 should be even nicer than the MP-001 460.
They have a new one in the latest Golfsmith catalog. I think it was 500 series or something.
I check the Golfsmith website and it's called Miz MX 500 so does that mean there will be no more MP 001?
I thought MX series were for Mid to High handicap and MP series were for Mid to Low.
i love my 370mp 001 ... i got the graffalloy blue stiff shaft on it and the sob gives me 30 yards more per drive than any fat ugly headed club gives me.. .. ive played the r5 and 400 launcher and the launcher is i believe to be better of the two.. however when i nutted a drive with the mp for the first time i had never hit a drive that far in my life.. par 4 396, gold tees, 48 yards from the green... no joke....

I just purchased a brand new 460CC MP-001, 10.5* with an Aldila NVS R flex shaft. Went with a friend to get him a new driver and after hitting a lot of balls with this Mizuno, it had to come home with me. I had the highest swing speed readings I've ever gotten and the distance was longer than normal for me. with the majority of the drives finding the fairway, it was a no brainer, it had to come home with me. They were on sale at Golf Galaxy for $89.99, and I had a $10 off coupon, so I got it for $79.99 plus tax. Not too bad when you figure that NVS shaft sells for $87.50 at Golfsmith.
As others have mentioned, the sound at impact is pretty nice. Feel was nice and solid and distance was as good or better than any other driver I have.
I like my 400CC w/ Exsar 60 Reg, hit it straighter than any other driver, and sounds better than some of those tin cans out there. Nice carry of about 225-250 which is good for me (my slowass swing). Just bought a 460 w/ the Aldila NVS R. Hoping to see some distance increases, I'll let you know next week.....
