Golf in Marbella, Spain

HI, New to the forum and looking for some help. A group of us from South Wales, UK are heading for MArbella, Spain in early June next year and are looking to play 4 courses.

We did Myrtle Beach last two years but due to marital strife and changing circumstances the trip has been changed for this year to be closer to home and for half the time!!

Anyone got any experience of golf in Marbella or know of a site/forum where we can get some info on courses?

Any help would be great!!

Thanks

Re: Golf in Marbella, Spain

I live in Marbella and I have to say if I had the choice of 4 it would depend on your budget but:

Aloha Golf Club which just hosted the Andalucia Open on the European Tour
Los Arqueros Very nice course up in the mountains not for the faint of heart
Las Brisas members club but tee times are available if you ask
Guadalmina Has two courses to choose from but its a nice place right down on the beach.

There are others that are good if your budget is a little less La Quinta, Estepona (very hilly!), Mijas Golf, the list is endless.

Hope this helps a little?

Have played Rio Real in Marbella which was a very nice course, quite open parkland course.

I would recommend Alcadesa- fantastic course with some views of the Rock of Gibralter, nice drive from Marbella. How about Valderamma and Sotogrande?? And don't forget to have some of that fantastic spanish ham, jamon jabugo and serrano. I now feel like going back.

Re: Golf in Marbella, Spain

Hi,

I went to Marbella, in fact in Puerto Banus and beleive that for our group of 40 golfers it was perfect for having all shops and restaurants close to the hotel PYR as we were using transfers that Patrizia Vercruyce from Golf Holidays Costa del Sol - Marbella Concept organized for us as well her very good recommendation on the hotel and specially on the golf courses.

Beleive me, that woman knows about golf. She is 7 handicap player and has a real golf background with her father golf professionnal... she in fact met us at the airport and we invited her to have dinner with our group on our first night in Tango, excellent meet restaurant of Puerto Banus that she recomended us also.

For the golf... we have been recommended to play only the best courses:
Valderrama, San Roque Old Course, Sotogrande, La Reserva de Sotogrande, Almenara and another one closer to our hotel called Los Naranjos.
Our golf holiday with Marbella Concept was a real success and a few of us sent her back a "thanks" message as she really did a professionnal work.
Her web page is: Golf Holidays Costa del Sol - Marbella Concept and on the golf course page, you have lots of details of all courses of the Costa del Sol.

You know what it is to go to a country with 40 people, when none have been in Spain before... Patrizia Vercruyce really did an excellent job on our golf holiday package on the Costa del Sol with Marbella Concept.

You will see... ask her questions about any course on the costa del sol and she will have an opinion about it. I would really recommend her as we all had an excellent holiday because of her and her team.

If you have more questions about the Costa del Sol, send me an e-mail at maila13@yahoo.com and I let you know what I remember.

Regards,
