Southern Dunes is a great choice I have played many rounds there.
Many on his list are private- Seminole, Lake Nona, Concession, John Island, Sharks Tooth, El Diablo, Black Diamond, and Trump International. I imagine some of these may have reciprocation privileges if he is member of a club. Another way to get out may be to go on
graigs list and beg. This worked for me at some very exclusive clubs like Congressional in DC, Eastlake and Atlanta Club in GA. Although what I have found with reciprocation or begging is the staff and members go out of there ways to make sure you feel like you do not belong. You more likely than not will be playing on Mondays with employees (which is fine with me, it's more likely than not they are better players)
Most stay and play at PGA National Innisbrook but is in great shape played it a few weeks ago.......
IMO must play in the Orlando area: Orange Lake (Palmer course only) Celebration Golf ,Champions Gate, Shingle Creek, Orange County National , Grand Cypress Resort and ask around about Disney courses (it’s a **** shoot when it comes to condition) . I play these allot in the summer. This time of year you’re looking at over $100 a round.
A real good deal in that area is Remington Golf Club all you can play and eat for $70 and course is always in OK shape (not sure what pace of platy is this time of year)
IMO must plays with in 2 hrs would be: World Wood, Black Bear Golf Club (call and ask about greens they where in bad shape a year ago but a great layout), Harbor Hills Lake county (best public greens I have ever played smooth and fast) The Club at Eaglebrooke Lakeland Fl (Home of the LPGA Futures Tour and a great layout )
I may be bias on this one as I live and play here: PGA Village PORT ST LUCIE, FL
Three great championship courses (two Tom Fazio layouts and a Pete Dye) and a 35 acre practice facility. Greens are rolling very true (there is two other private courses as-well).
Have fun where ever you end up………
