Ft. Lauderdale Area Golf

I will be in Tamarac, Florida in March and I'm trying to find out if there are any gems of courses I haven't heard of so far. I've been a few times before and played these courses in the region... Jacaranda East (Plantation), Hillcrest (Hollywood), Colony West (Tamarac), TPC at Heron Bay (Coral Springs; now just Heron Bay since sold by TPC), Bonaventure West (Weston), and Palm Beach National (Lake Worth). I'm probably able to get 2 rounds in, and one will definitely be Colony West because of it's proximity to where my mother in law lives.
I've been trying to get around to some of the other courses in the area, but I'm torn between playing a new one and repeating a few I liked. I'd like to go back to Jacaranda or maybe play Bonaventure East (it was closed when I was there last time...). But I'm also interested in information on Plantation Preserve, which is new since I was there last, Deer Creek (a bit pricey, but I've heard good things...), the Carolina Club, Inverrary and anything else that may be nice in the area. Any information is appreciated!

I live in Coral Springs and recently picked up golf at college, I have played both Inverrary and the Carolina Club, and both are very nice. Both courses at Inverrary are great. The Carolina Club is nice but there is water everywhere, and were you least expect it. I saw a coupon going around for Heron Bay a foursome could play for $200 mon- thrus after 11.

Thanks for the info! Inverrary is a course I've often looked at... maybe it comes up this trip. My wife's uncle and aunt live right across from the Carolina Club, and that is also on the long list of courses I'll want to try.

Just an update. I only got one round in while there, due to iffy weather and time constraints. Played Plantation Preserve. Nice little layout, very open so very subject to windy days. I played horribly, but the course was nice, it a bit overpriced for an out of town guest. I know it's snowbird season, and I appreciate making them hay while the sun shines (somewhat fleecing the tourists...), but I paid more for this round of golf than I did for a round at a top 75 course... and this course isn't even one of the top in South Florida...
Definitely a good facility, and good golf, but I can find equal for cheaper...

If you can, play Inverrary, that was my high school's golf team's home course, it's great. Country Club of Coral Springs isn't bad either. Call ahead and you should be able to play. Palm Aire has some good courses too. Oak Tree is nice if it's still in business. Woodmont in Tamarac isn't bad either.

Thanks for the info, Big Dave. I ended up driving down to Plantation and playing Plantation Preserve. Nice course, still new and growing up, but some tough holes. Seems like wind would be a constant there as well. Tough par 3's. My biggest complaint was the price. I realize I went towards the end of snowbird season, and being from out of town is always a disadvantage. As well the general idea is there are a lot of good courses in South Florida. But I played the two courses at Dancing Rabbit in Choctaw, Mississippi, both of which are ranked in the top 10 of Mississippi courses and blow Plantation Preserve away, and neither of them were as expensive at Plantation Preserve. I played Ross Bridge in Birmingham, AL, where the Champions Tour plays. It's a beautiful course in the hills, and it was only $10 more than Plantation Preserve. Heck, for that matter Jacaranda was at least as nice a course and was way less...
