Orlando

Greetings,
I am planning a trip to Orlando. Any ideas on where to stay to be very golf centralized, or a course close to DisneyWorld, that has hotels close by. I am contemplating making the drive to Miami to see the Ford Championship at Doral. How long is the drive from Orlando to Miami? Should I rent a car? Any other ideas on must sees in Orlando would be cool.

I don't know much about the courses around Orlando but upon searching, it is approx. 202 miles from Orlando to Miami. Sounds like a decent drive to me.

I live in orlando so my suggestion would be stay anywhere, it is all golf centralized. I dont think you can stay anywhere in orlando, or central florida for that matter, and be more than 7 miles away from a course. staying on 192 near I-4 would probably be a good choice if you want to stay near the disney area

I played Disney's Eagle Pines and Osprey Ridge (they used the same clubhouse) and both were very nice. Secluded, open fairways and plush greens.

Orlando? Your so close to Sarasota. Great golf courses from the pristine 100 dollar a round hottie tottiey to the 25 dollars after 2PM hacker courses for a quick cheap round at the end of the day. Amazing beaches without the crowds and drive and less expensive accommodations, and your still a reasonable drive to the theme parks and golf central if thats what you insist on.

Above all though no I4 corridor driving. For Gods sake be careful on that monstrosity. You will be taking your life in your hands every day you venture out on that thing.

I've only played a few of these (indicated by '#'), but the ones with the '*'s are supposed to be the more enjoyable courses, based on various internet forum posts.

I have played Osprey Ridge, Eagle Pines, Palm, and Magnolia, all at Disney. Would recommend any of them. Mt. Dora, Metro West are decent as well. Was even able to play Lake Nona. But to play that one, I figure you'd have to know someone who is member. I was able to play there with my brother, who lives in Windermere.

Tons of info. Thanks a lot. My plan is to try to stay so close to a course I can walk a block or two with my clubs on my back and hit the practice area whenever I feel like it. While my girlfriend is sleeping in the morning, i'll dart off at 7 am and hit the practice area for an hour. Thanks.

I'm going to have to bookmark this thread. We are taking a family vacation to Orlando in December. Not 100% sure if I am taking the sticks yet, but if I get the go ahead from the Mrs., they will come along. Looks like a lot of great places to play. Nice work guys.

Why not just drive 45 mins to an hour north and play Sawgrass? I "hear" it's not too bad of a course...
