I wrote a multi-user online (BBS) golf game way back in the early 90's as shareware. It is called LAN/BBS Tournament Golf. I was just wondering if anyone ever played it or heard of it.
This was made for BBS's long before the Net became what it is now. It was unique because it wasn't just a simple text game. It was graphics oriented, like Mean 18, but the graphics were made using characters. Only the keyboard is used to play the game.
The game also works "offline" and supports network play. You can see other player scores in realtime and check the leader board while playing.
Anyone could make their own course by using a text editor.
Mostly, I would just get the occasional order ("registration"), but I remember when the tech support people for XTree Gold (file manager) called to let me know they have been playing tournaments with it and wanted to know if I would trade a registered copy of the golf game for a copy of XTree Gold. This worked out for me because I used the program all the time, but had a "free" copy hehe.
Those that want to go in the Way Back Machine can download it
here. I stopped taking orders several years ago. Anything mailed to the address on my shareware programs would never get to me anyway.
I also wrote VB Icon Browser and VB Icon Extractor way back then. These were Windows icon utilities. VB Icon Browser was sold retail (commercial) for a while and I got $0.25 or so each copy sold.
