I was scanning the net looking for some golf articles when I found a couple - which I've sort of cut & pasted - that I thought might be of interest to GR:
The fastest round of golf played by an individual (where the golf ball must come to rest before each new stroke) is 27 min 9 sec by James Carvill at Warrenpoint Golf Course (6154 yards) on 18 June 1987?
June 2005; Shenzhen, China for an attempt on the Guinness World Record for Most Golfers on a Single Course in 24 Hours at the Green Bay Golf Club. On the big day golf enthusiasts arrived from Mainland China, Japan, Singapore and the United States to take part and ranged from 73 to six years old! After much preparation, the first golfers teed off at 7pm and the attempt began. Golfers went out in five groups with each returning after about four hours of play around the 6270-yard course. 24 hours later the last group arrived and the tally was counted. After confirmation by the judges the announcement was made: 623 golfers had completed the course successfully and were now part of a new Guinness World Record.
The long-driver who set the new record is Paul "St. George" Slater. Slater is the current Order of Merit leader on the Remax European long drive tour. He also was the 2004 long drive champion in Scotland.
His 720-yard blast occurred Feb. 19 on the tarmac at the London City Airport. The world-record attempt was part of the London Golf Show.
"I knew it was right as soon as I hit it," Slater said. "You know when you've hit a good shot; you get the surge going right up through your body. That's what we do it for really."
The previous record of 696 yards was set not long ago by PGA Tour star Stuart Appleby.
Slater's weapon of choice for his 720-yarder was an SMT O2 driver with 2.5 degrees of loft and an ultra-stiff, 50-inch Apache shaft.

The longest straight shot hole in one in golf history was hit by Robert Mitera on October 7, 1965 at the Miracle Hills Golf Club in Omaha, Nebraska. Mitera used his driver to ace the 10th hole from 444 yards! Mitera couldn't even see the flag from where he teed off. He only realized he'd aced the hole when he arrived at the green and another golfer told him his ball was in the hole.
Some golfers play for years without shooting a hole in one, while others manage to do it at an early age. The youngest player was barely out of diapers when he shot his first hole in one. Jake Paine was just three years old when he shot a hole in one on a 65-yard hole in Lake Forest, California. The oldest player is Harold Stilson, from Boca Raton, Florida. He was 101 years old when he aced the 108-yard 16th hole with a four iron at the Deerfield Country Club on May 16, 2001.
Norman Manley, of California, holds the record for most holes in one with 59. Manley shot his first hole in one in 1964 and aced four holes in 1979. That's not too bad considering the odds of hitting a hole in one are roughly one in 40,000.
A new auction world record has been achieved by Bonhams & Butterfields at its first US Golf Sale, held yesterday (5 May 2006) at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum, in Brookline Massachusetts. The dollar coin sized Bramble-patterned golf ball fetched a staggering US $10,516 and was bought by the renowned Minikahada Golf Club, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

On a Golf trivia site: Longest putt - 140' 2 3/4 inches. They don't say who did it.
In 1989, Nick Faldo sinks a 100-foot birdie putt on the second hole at Augusta National in the Masters, the longest putt holed to date in a major tournament. Faldo goes on to win the Masters.
And finally:
