Why is it that I have an uncanny knack for finding the errant shots of my playing partners, but yet rarely find my own errant shots?
It's all psychological--or psychiatric: Finding your partners' errant balls confirms for you their poor swings and inferior games, while failing to find your own errant balls leaves some doubt about your own fallibility, allowing you to retain your self-respect and protect your ego from the ravages of confirming your own shortcomings. This tendency is related to the concept of seeing the splinter in the eye of another while missing the log in your own.
Subconciously, you pay more attention to the shortcomings of others than to your own. This is a serious character flaw, Leaguegolf, that you should take action to remedy before it begings to affect your relationships with others, because while your playing partners may now appreciate your finding their balls, eventually they will realize that you are watching their balls more closely than you care for your own--and they will eventually begin to resent this attention and avoid your company.
You're in a fine mood this morning. First the poem, now this?
Perhaps the answer to my playing partners and I not being able to find my errant shots is as simple as..... One, there's not many of them so they don't follow the flight of my every shot. Two, my errant shots tend to be errraaaaaaaant, as in they get into deeper trouble
I have my share of character flaws, but picking on old friends isn't one of them!

You need someone to keep you on your toes, Leaguegolf. You have plenty of admirers willing to flatter you; you need at least one willing to pop that inflated ego once in a while.
And, if I didn't pick on "old" friends, I wouldn't have anyone to pick on at all, because picking on youngsters just isn't any fun and not really fair. Besides, the hide on old guys is thicker, so the barbs don't hurt--they just tickle a bit.
The other day I was playing behind two women, who were playing fairly well, plunking the ball out there in the fairway and moving along in a striaght line for the hole. Well, they're almost to the green on the 1st hole, a 350-yard par 4, and I tee my ball up, and rip a 3 wood right down the middle about 250-60--a great shot for me. They look back admiringly as I plod my way down the fairway.
By the time I got to my ball they were cleaning up their putts and moved smartly off the green, watching to see what kind of shot this golf god was going to hit into the green after such a terrific drive. I tore such a divot out of the fairway with my wedge that I could have buried a groundhog with it. and the shot blooped up about 50 yards short of the green. You know what's worse?
On the next hole I hit the same kind of drive and then, only 60 yards from the green, I put my second shot 20 yards to the right of the pin off the back of the green! When I looked up, they were standing on the next tee watching my humiliation. I gave them a little wave and walked off the course after I sank my par putt.
Of course they will! Unless they are laughing too hard at the mouth and antics of Terrell Owens that they can't run a play.
Mark my words: The Eagles are vulnerable--as they proved last week. They may beat up on the NFC all season, but they're not going to the Super Bowl. And if by some slim chance they do, they'll get blown out by the AFC. You heard it here first from a Philly fan who isn't buying the hype.
I hadn't noticed that it was in Dallas yet. I thought it was in Philly. But if it were in Philly they might score 3, if they're really lucky. Garbage points they'll be tonight...
They've got a 41 year old quarterback and an overused, past his prime running back. They're really no threat anymore, so I can understand why people don't hate them as much as they did.
Well, I got the Cowboys' point total right, but was a bit off on the Eagles'....the final tally showed a 49-21 Eagles win. McNabb made the play of the year so far in the second quarter, evading the Cowboys defense for a full 14 seconds with series of dazzling escapes, then throwing against his body, on the run, a 50 yard dart right into the arms of his receiver running in stride. One of the most amazing plays I've ever been privy to watch. He's a special player for sure.
