I don't think it's going to end up backfiring in any way. If anything it will help ABC out to get all this extra attention. Desperate Housewives will get a bump in ratings just from people who've seen this controversy and are wondering what the hoopla is about.
ABC gets what it was probably after from the start and I have to make sure they've actually started the game before my son can start watching. ABC knew what they were showing....this was no "surprise" to the network execs.
my son who just left is 25, but he has a daughter that is 5, MY GRANDAUGHTER !!!,
and when he is home, they are divorced, he has her for most of the time. NOw the dispute, he is a big fan of a show called "The OC" And thats fine watch what you want, but he did not get to see much of last season in Korea....so he bought the first season on DVD. while at home he was watching the whole season to cath up and its definately in my opinion suitable for a 5 YO. I came in and he and baby girl are watching, the show cut to a party scene and drinking snorting and such and i walked over and shut of the player and told him no good for the baby watch when she is either not here or in bed, HE BALKED<<<< said it was his daughter and he would decide, and it wasn't that bad.
It was an easy choice for me, i told him" my house, my TV, my DVD player i decide that the OC is banned when Baby girl is around" go watch it at your house, he lives in Ga not on his way to the desert but the point is at that age they don't see it the way we do, hated to put my foot down to a 25 YO, but i just think i was doing it for the good of the grand baby. Of course he whinned to his mother, that he would not have time to watch it if it was only at night, and god bless her, she told him "If he thinks its to bad, after what he's seen in his life around the world, tough, besides you don't need to be camped out inside all day with her, go play" WAY TO GO MS. BOOMER!!!
Good for you Boomer! Kids are exposed to sex, drugs, and alcohol way too soon in their young lives as it is. Why be a party to speeding up the process? Credit goes to Mrs. Boomer too for not caving in. There's not much we can do, as parents, to prevent these types of exposures once our children are out of the house, but I commend and respect you for your stand, in your own home, on your grand daughter's behalf!
Something many in the baby-boomer generation (my generation, although I am on the early end of it) never learned and never passed on to their kids is that being a parent requires some real sacrifices, among which is that there are some things that you just shouldn't say or do--or allow to be said or done--in front of little children. Today's little ones see and hear way too much adult material from their homes, their neighbors, and from TV.
In all truth, I am step-father, although i never refer to my son in that light, nor does he. As he was getting close to having to head back to Augusta and the to the middle east, he was getting increasingly short fused with Ms Boomer and I.
Mama had said a couple of time to let small things slide, I usually don't, but when it came to Babygirl, she jumped in with both feet.
There are times hard decisions have to be made you and Ms Boomer had to make a hard decision to hold your ground good for you both. My prayers are with you and your family that your son returns soon and healthy god speed.
Callaway mest up and sent me two more hx tour golf balls to test. I hope they dont fix that and keep sending them to me.
Wouldn't that be nice if they sent you 2 balls monthly? I don't think that would be enough for me since my balls can often be found in the water/hidden in bushes & deep grass/scuffed from the cart path but it would be nice.
