I hate hitting draws and hooks all day, so when I'm coming to the closing holes, I think I have my swing figured out. I aim to the right to compensate and it goes straight into the hazard.
I was gonna say the exact same as you longfellow. Definitely frustrating. How about when you've got a career round (or darn near it) going only to have a thunderstorm come through and force you off the course around the 15th hole...which also happens to be the farthest point from the clubhouse?
I hate playing an unfamiliar course and hitting a good shot only to find it ended up in a hidden hazard like a creek running across the fairway or a bunker you can't see from the tee box.

See there's your problem...we normal hacks don't have to worry about hitting good shots!!!

Even worse is not having the distance to an UNhidden creek or bunker, and either laying up and still having plenty of distance to the hazard (esp. if the hazard ends up coming in play on the next shot!), or just the opposite and having no distance, but thinking "I'll lay up with a 5 wood" or something, and dropping it in the middle of the drink.
One hole in Indy comes to mind for the former, its a par 4, not too long, but definitely not driveable. I could *probably* hit 3W off the tee and still have room, but I always hit 5W and end up with 75 or so yds to the pond, then the 50 or 60 yards past the pond to the green, and its a par 4. So instead of having a 100 yd wedge shot, I end up needing to stick an 8 iron or so into an elevated green. Ugh.
With a visible hazard you at least have a clue (and you don't have that penalty stroke quite as often) but I agree with you. :nodsmiley I appreciate the courses that have a sign that tell me how far it is to the hazard or how much of a carry it is to clear it.
League took the words right out of my mouth. It cost me 4 penalty strokes the last time out... although only 2 of them were hit exactly as I'd planned. The other 2 I pushed a bit...but I didn't know there was water over there too. Another one is when yardage stakes are way off.
Par 5---on in two and four putt for a bog.
Reaching a five in two doesn't happen often for me, in fact I could count the times on one hand and still have enough fingers left to throw out a gang sign, so that just adds to the frustration.
I hate having say a 7:30 tee time, and your playing partners show up at 7:25. They are rushing to pay, change their shoes, take a practice swing, and I have to wait.
On the course, I think the thing I hate most is blading a 15 foot chip all the way across the green to the rough on the other side. Another thing is those ****hats who spit sunflower seed shells on the greens.
Here's one landing the ball on the green, but spinning it off the side, getting up there seeing the ball mark on the green and after little bit seeing that your ball actually rolled OB! happened to me in a touney in Oregon once... Had to walk all the way back to 135 out in the middle of the fairway and take my drop...
Or this... sombody I'm playing with hits a putt way too hard and it's headed straight for the flag on the ground so I pick the flag up...
