Does anyone famous play at your course?

I was looking at the list of club champions at my home course and noticed Tin Herron (Lumpy) was the junior club champ twice. Also I played in front of Christian Laettner (back when he was with the Timberwolves). He actually hit into our group on a par 5, but did come up to apologize. Anyway thats my golfing brush with fame.

Well I don't know how famous is famous... But like I said in another tread tonight there's a PGA Touring pro (Chris Smith) that played at the course I play, most of the time, when he was in High School...He's won once on Tour a couple years ago...I did get to play in a local celebrity golf scramble one year. (I was a celebrity. One sport athlete from each of the local high schools are always asked to play.)

Not at my home course but at a course within about 1/2 hour of me is where Ryan Moore grew up at.

It's funny that they say it is Home of the 2004 US Amateur Champion, 2002 & 2004 US Public Links Champion, 2004 NCAA Champion, 2004 Western Amateur Champion and 2004 Sahalee Players Champion but they never say his name.

What is especially funny is that the list makes it appear that they have numerous amateur champions as members, when in reality all the titles belong to the same guy!

I guess some courses will do anything to attract new members.

Yeah, you would think with all those past champions around, it would be pretty crowded. In all honesty, it is a very nice course. Don't play it when it is wet, it gets wet and holds onto the water.

There is a guy at my course that played for the New York Giants way back in the 40's. Nicest guy you'd ever meet...never would have expected to hear that he was a football player..There is also a guy that practices at my course that plays on a South American tour. Another nice guy..hits the ball a mile...used to participate in the Re/Max World Long Drive Championships.

I live in Duluth GA. At the TPC at Sugarloaf.

Famous if say the BellSouth Classic and the field that plays in it.

Or just a PGA pros like Stewart Cink

At Bethpage Black, there is a celeb sighting everyone once in a while. I saw Ray Romano playing a few groups behind me once, and Roger Clemens has gone out there to play as well.

Mike Weir is a local and plays at a couple of courses I play every now and then, but I haven't seen him.

There is a picture of Michael Jordan playing at Wasatch State Park.

I once said "Hi." to Carmen Electra at Bountiful Ridge. She was alone walking to #10 trying to hide her face under her hat. She giggled and said "Hi.". Talk about a presence...

Before he got traded to the Maple Leafs, Brian Leetch used to play at the golf course I'm a member at in New York. One time I was eating lunch and I saw him drive by with Mark Messier, Mike Richter and Sergie Zubov. I've hit balls next too him on the range, he has a pretty good swing. And I got to meet Mike Richter when he had is surprise birthday party there. When I caddied at the course, I caddied for Scott Clark, he does the sports for ABC news. He was a real nice I guy always calling me "Danny Boy" referencing too Caddyshack. I had his playing partners bag, supposedly this guy was the rookie of the year on the PGA tour during 1987.

I've played in front of Tom Poti back when he was with the Oilers. (He had a mean slice & was always on the wrong fairway + he attested our scorecard.)
Chi Chi Rodriguez comes up once a year & puts on a clinic at Dorchesters. I played with him & he is still awesome. His distance control with his short game is amazing. (Very small hands)

I played in a Jim Kelly charity event at my home course with some Sabres and Bills a few years back. Locally famous I guess, though guys like Marino, Kosar, Elway were there. They have some great stories. I didn't have any of them in my 4 some but got to mingle afterwards.

It is rumored that Billy Casper's house sits of the 9th fairway on my "home" course, but I've never confirmed it. It was mentioned as I hit his roof twice in a row when I first started golfing. He must be pretty cool though. Both houses next to him have "nets" up, but he doesn't. I'm sure the windows are "proofed".
But he's donated a ton of stuff to another local course down here that he likes to play. There's like a mini museum in there.
