My high schools home course is just a piece... I mean on the front they have about a 100 par 3 with a waste of water (a pond in front of the tee box that is only about 15 yards wide) Then there is only one par 5 and another awful 220 yard par 3 that always plays about 235 because of the elevated tee box and nobody i have seen has come within 25 feet of the pin ever and about 1/15 makes the green.
Then don't even get me started on the back... It starts of with 3 PAR 5'S which would make scoring and the mental game easier if they were evenly dispersed over the back or even moved one to the front. Even though I usually come out of this stress at about +1 i'm always angry that they couldn't be someplace else that would help my scoring and mindset when i knew i needed to go low because after these 3 holes its hard to score because of the 3 420 plus par 4's and 2 190 par 3's. UNBELIEVABLE I DON'T SEE WHY ANYONE WOULD HIRE A COURSE ARCITECT LIKE WITH SUCH A LOUSY DESIGN IMO.
Sounds to me like your mental game could use a good architect too.
I agree with League. You are playing the course just like EVERYONE else in the field...as long as it's the same for everyone, your mental game is just beating yourself.
I'm sorry to hear about your lousy course. I'll try and give some advice....if you play on your high school team I assume that you have some skill. At that level you should view par 5's as scoring holes....so that stretch of 3 straight par 5's should give you an opportunity to make some birdies and pick up some shots.
Good luck in your matches, high school golf is grrrreat.
I KNOW my mouth would be salivating at the prospect of 3 consecutive Par 5's...could probably be 2 under through those 3 many times. Par 5's are gifts and should be looked at that way.
i don't see the course as particularly hard or anything like that, but i don't kno i just don't like the set up, and maybe i won't be so grumpy once i can score a little better than +8 for the back, but whatever floats your boat
