Has anyone ever played fore lakes in Michigan, I am from Toronto, and want to know if it is worth the drive.
Thanks
I've played it a couple of times. The course has matured very nicely and you'll enjoy it - I played for the 2nd time last fall and it was in great shape. There's a good reason the call it Fore Lakes - the course is built around 4 lakes and they come into play, but it's not so hard that it's impossible. However, one really bad shot is going to get wet and could easily ruin a good score.
The view from the clubhouse is unique in one sense - you see more blue (water) than green - the course looks like little green ribbons in between the 4 lakes. But in reality, there is room on most holes, unless you really mess up. Holes 1, 14 and 16 are where the water becomes more indimidating - if you can manange those three holes you can post a good score. I like the course very much. My favorite is a little futher inland in Frankenmuth - The Fortress. So if your in Mich, those are 2 fine courses that will test you but not overwhelm you.
Good to hear from both you guys. Some things have stayed the same - seeing a lot of the same posters that were here last year! Even tho is snowed here today it's now May and it's time to get back thinking more about golf. I need the winter to recoup and hopefully (if my back holds out) I'll play more and want to post here again this summer.
Looks like everyone's coming out of the woodwork today.... Welcome back yourself robertg. Who's next, swingezy?
Thanks for the welcome back; I got your IM and, after checking back periodically on what was going on here at GR, I decided I'd resume some level of posting activity. However, I can't be expected to post at the 50 posts-a-day level that I did before I left.

Well that'll probably help in the long run....how did it feel to play without having a gazillion swing thoughts running through your head?

I improved in that aspect of my game, but I only dropped a few strokes from my game -- my lowest was like 106 -- and while and after shooting a miserable 118 yesterday, I started having the deadly swing thoughts as a last act of desperation. I'd better get rid of them soon, but yesterday I was just feeling horrible; I was trying to recall some of what my instructor showed me a couple months ago, but when I tried it, it just screwed me up further. Ahh... the great game of golf.
