What is the policy of the course you play or have played (public or private)
concerning golfers wearing the mock turtlenecks. The country club
that I am a member only allows shirts with collars only. My 2 brothers are
members of private clubs and the same rule applies. Many resort courses
that I have played don't allow them too.
With the popularity of these shirts on the mens tour, you would think that
most public or private courses would not change their dress policy.
What do you think?
Most courses do have a collared shirt rule, but that was so folks wouldn't show up in tee shirts. I wear a mock all the time under my wind jacket and when it warms up, take off the jacket. No one has ever said anything. I think more and more courses will start allowing them--like I said; the original rule was so nobody showed up in tee shirts and jeans..most courses still don't allow that.
Almost all of the resort courses here will allow the mocks. Some of the Private clubs still will not allow them. We had some people last year come in with the tourney tipped t-shirts that some of the guys have worn out there and when we told them they weren't allowed, we got the "Well they wear them on the PGA TOUR." Our answer was simply..."When you are being paid to play, you can where whatever that tour allows but here, you will have to wear a collared shirt (mock counts as a collar and so did a henley).
My club allows the mock turtle. I purchased 4 last fall and wore them all winter on the course. They usually started out under a sweater though.
This spring I have seen a number of vendors offering short sleeve mocks in summer weight. I am hesitant to pull the trigger on these. In my opinion they seem too casual for warmer weather when you will not be wearing anything over them.
