Man, I'm rolling reading this...Mostly because of the mental images...But I do own a cd for most of those bands...LOL
My wife shakes her head every time she looks at the CD's I have. I worked at a college radio station one summer, it was an easy 3 credits, and we were required to play stuff like Berlin, Til Tuesday, timbuk 3, stuff like that. I often brought in most of my own collection to suit my own tastes. I still listen to most of those bands, along with a lot of country, Duran Duran is a favorite, Best of Depech Mode, Bryan Adams, Simon and Garfunkel. I can really listen to anything and enjoy it. There is a classical guitarist, Otmar Liebert who I think is incredible. Check him out.
Can add my milestone here - got in a quick 18 yesterday afternoon. Played as a single without much success, in fact I was seven over net with two to play. Made a regulation par on 17 and, finalement chipped on for an eagle 3 on the last. It was a genuine chip in too - last week to a nearly identical pin position I chipped to 9 inches, so I had a good idea of how to play the shot. I thought I had over hit it but it just curled along the slope and plopped in the hole. Sweet...
Was it the Gremlin that's in Wayne's World? The Garthmobile? I thought it looked like one, but they never showed a very good shot of it in the movie with the exception of from the back.
My first (and to date last) eagle came on a sore excuse for a par 5. 430 yards, with a few hazards. Pushed my drive. Lucky i did, because it skipped down the cart path to about 65 yds. Little flip onto the green to about 8 inches, tap-in eagle.
I would've much rather hit a good drive (around 225 at that time - i was 13) followed by a big 4+ wood to the front edge, and a long sloping 35 footer for the eagle. But hey, i'll still take it.
