Would you guys rather be able to stripe the ball 400 yards and split the fairway or 1 putt every green?
I'll take "stripe the ball 400 yards and split the fairway" any day.
You can learn to putt decent, but no way can you "learn" to hit a ball 400 yards right down the middle. Plus, if I could hit the ball 400 yards down the middle, it means I've got one heckuva swing. My irons would also be awesome!
I might get beaten by a "one putter", but I guarantee I'd have more fun from tee to green.
I added a poll to this thread, because it's an interetesting topic. Hope you don't mind e3bsktbll.
Me personally, I'd enjoy hitting it 400 yards down the middle, but I'd knock more strokes off my game by one putting every green, so I'll go with that. Either one would be fun for a while but even then, human nature is to want something better and I think that knowing every single putt is going to drop or every drive is going to be down the center might get a little dull after a while. The miracle shots we pull off from trouble or the unexpected 60 foot bomb that drops are some of the things that make this game so enjoyable IMO.
I have trouble finding the fairway on every hole and those that I do find, I usually make par or better. Plus adding an extra 150 yrds on my drive would be great which would leave me with a 50-80 yrd shot on most par 4s.
For pure fun factor it would have to be the 400 yard drive. In the end though, the 1 putt makes alot more sense as far as lowering your score goes. Still, I'd probably take the 400 yard bombs.
No three putts, no 2 putts!
I would take this all the way to Augusta!
All you would have to do is hit the green in regulation, I do this about 70% of the time so that is 70% birdies. Not to mention UGIR. With this I would be unbeatable. But then nobody would want to watch me play. Hmmmmmmmmm, unless I wore red on Sunday.
While it would be fun to drive it 100 to 150 yards past my playing partners, that won't help me on the par 3s or short par 4 holes. Since it would help on every hole I have to go with 1 putt every green .
as long as the 400yds splits the fairway, I'll take the 400yds. would have a better chance to go under par this way for my game anyway. par-5's now become med. length par-4s. yup, give me the yardage.
ok, let's try it. how about 2 of you GR's that are close, get together for a round and 1 take the 400 and 1 take the putts and let's see what happens. actually, the more tests the better. maybe frissch. and jackamo could try this since jackamo is always saying he's 50yds past frissc. anyway, lol.
