Today at my high school meet i shot a 60(it was rainy, windy and about 45 degrees but thats absolutley no EXCUSE)!!!!! This is unbelievable for me because i never even go over 50. My driving is awful and about ready to quit the game. Do you guys think that it would do my swing and mental game some good to take off for a week or two (even tho i probably wont be able to).
When I'm hitting the ball badly, I usually get my local pro to go to the range with me and help me get outta the funk...It always seems that once I'm told, more like re-affirmed, what I'm doing wrong, I can get it fixed, or at least somewhere in the ballpark...
I play bad in this kind of weather also. Its hard to keep warm and limber, I would just write it off to bad weather. I also go to the range buy a small bucket, and take a couple wedges. I will hit shots at about 1/2 to 3/4 speed and try to hit about 50 to 100yd shots. I work on timing and feel shots, just trying to make good solid contact. I work on my swing at slower speed.
Rainy, windy and 45* is a GREAT excuse. Take Harley's advice... shake it off and go hit a bucket or 2 with your short irons until you get the feeling back.
When I have trouble with the driver, I go to the 3-wood off the tee to recapture the tempo and take the pressure off the driver...soon afterwards you'll want to go back as the 3-wood more often then not helps you find your rhythm back....don't give up, this is too great a game.
When I have a bad round I usually go to the pro and get it sorted, then I'm back to playing normal again.
If I played in that weather I'd blame it on that lol
When I play a bad round, it seems, unlike the rest here, I tend to be annoyed with myself an unable to live with that on my back, so i get out again as soon as possible, i try to shoot a better round. For example, one day a couple years ago i shot a 104 (PAR 71) The next week, i went out again, shot 83 (PAR 72)
1 iron guy, I tend to do the same as you. I can't stand to have that round in my head so I need to get back out there and "erase" it. I not one to go out and beat balls at the range working on mechanics either, more of a feel type player.
I've been feeling blue about my game as well, all the work over the off season, and I'm worse for the wear, scoring wise. I am thrilled with the "progress" that my swing has taken, but with the high-winds it's a different game around here these days.

Once again the golf gods reveal their presence. And what are they telling you?
