My score today. (beginner)

Hey guys.. I've only been into golf for about a month..

I went with my instructor person to a 9 hole course today.

Why is it so hard to get any better at golf? lol

I shot a 63. Par was 34. How bad is this for a beginner?

I hit one amazing shot.. i used my 5 wood off the tee. It landed about 3 foot before the water. then used the pitching wedge to get it onto the green from there.. ended up getting a bogey on it.

Heres my scores per hole.

#1. got 6 on a par 5

#2. got 9 on a par 3

#3. got 8 on a par 4.

#4. got 7 on a par 4.

#5. got 7 on a par 4

#6. got 5 on a par 3

#7. got 6 on a par 3

#8. got 5 on a par 4.

#9. got 10 on a par 4

Musta been #8...I would say for a beginner, not bad. You have a couple of things going for you, imo. You appear to have a healthy attitude (sense of humor) toward your game which is good. And you're aware of your score which means you're competitive which, at this point, is only kinda good...just don't put too much emphasis on the numbers right now and try to just concentrate on executing one shot at a time. And work, work, work on that short game...that takes off more strokes than anything. Improvement in golf doesn't follow a linear progression, it jumps up and then levels off or even falls back a little before it suddenly one day jumps up again...hang in there, Josh.

I agree, not bad. One thing I'd stress to new players is work on your short game as much as possible. Chipping and putting will save you plenty of strokes, early in your career and will never be a bad thing as you get more into the game...The long ball is nice, but it's ups/downs around the green that save strokes.

So many times my older brother could kill the ball in two shots on the longest of par 5's then we'd walk off the green and my measly keep it in play, nice short game would walk off with a par or bogey on that hole and he'd be slamming his putter into the ground, grunting as he'd walk off with at least a bogey or worse...

Long game is nice to have don't get me wrong, but the scoring zone is from 100 yards and in...practice that.
