I try to ride as much as my wallet allows! I've noticed especially on the super hot days, fatigue starts to affect my game- it certainly doesnt help when I'm on TILT, and then weird stuff just starts to happen, and yea...
I moved my equipment into a new Ogio carry bag at the beginning of the year so I have been walking as much as possible. I picked up real quick that I didn't need to carry more than a sleeve or two of balls. Funny how much things weigh after about the 12th hole. The only times I have used a cart lately are like the course I played on Saturday, putt out and about 300 yards to the next tee
I'd prefer to walk, but most times when I get out, it's the weekend and places require carts, some don't care if you walk, you have to pay cart prices anyways, so it becomes why bother. Strange, but that are some of the policies I've seen.
* My home club charges $15 for a cart fee. I'd rather not pay that fee for as many times as I'm on the course during a month. So - to save $$$, I walk mostly.
* Too pudgy. I look at walking as an opportunity to lose weight.
* Relaxation. The majority reason I joined a private golf club is to get tee times, and actually get to PLAY the course, without battling the crowds. Walking the course at the end of the day, ending with a nice sunset is pure nirvana, IMO.
All other times, when I'm playing public courses, or other events (charity scrambles, etc.) I ride.
It depends. I used to walk almost exclusively, but I just turned 50 qualifying me for OG discounts at a number of places around here. It's hard to pass the cart up when it's only an extra couple bucks( $1.00 more at a place I've played a few times lately).
