European and American courses ?

What do you think makes the courses so different ?

You see players in America get very low scores, normally all of the time . And in Europe, some of the courses seem a bit harder because of the higher scores. Why ?

This is my opinion.

Thanks

I think one of the reasons may be that American courses the greens are alot softer and there is less wind. I played in Scotland and the best I Could manage was a 85 on the OLD COURSE. That course is really hard. The rough seems so to be longer also in Europe.

You guys have been looking at too many magazines. They only show the posh, high dollar courses where everything is perfect. Trust me, they are not the majority. There are many courses over here with hard, baked out greens that wouldn't hold a gob of glue. Same for fairways and deep rough. Oh, and we also have many places where the wind blows all the time and sometimes it changes right in the middle of your swing. I've been to Scotland and though I've never played golf there I would agree that the wind and weather there are probably as bad as anywhere in the world for golf. But I do love the country and the way of life. Everyone seems so much more relaxed and happy. Have a good one all.

Assuming Queen meant Tour courses, the differences relate to consistency of course set-up. US Tour tries to have greens of similar speed every week, Euro Tour less so, and often slower greens.
