I was just thinking yesterday of how I have never seen a golf ball land right on another golf ball. After who knows how many thousands of shots I've seen over the past 30 years, you would think this would happen especially on the green.
Has anybody here seen this while playing? I bet someone has seen a ball hit another ball then go in the hole (hopefully the right ball!).
I hit a 70 yard approach on the final hole last round i played, came down right on top of the ball of one of my foursome (someone i had never played with before) It knocked her ball about a foot closer (it was 3 feet past the hole) and mine jumped another 20 feet back on the green. That was about how my round had been going all day, so i was actually not at all surprised.
I saw a video clip of an island green where a tour player's ball was close to the pin and another player's ball landed on it. The ball that landed on top of the ball already on the green caromed wildly into the water. Now that's a bad break!
My wife always had trouble getting across the pond in front of the green on our course par5. Some times she's been able to skip the ball across on a hop, or two. Well, this one time she tops it with top spin, and it looked like it was heading into the drink about 2/3 the way across (about 60-70 yrds), when it hit the top of a surfacing turtle and bounced high and far (at least 20 foot high and 20 yrds forward to land in the light rough and roll to the middle of the green. I thought it was hilarious, especially as the turtle made a big splash as it dove to the bottom.

hahahaha. thats awesome, i wish i could have seen that.... i probably would have just set my clubs down and went home, you cant beat a shot like that
I saw a guy's ball go over the green and land on a flat-topped square rock about 2 ft high. Bet you could throw that ball 10,000 times and never have it stay on that doggone rock! But we had mercy and didn't make him play it--he had a brand new set of TM's!
Just last weekend was at a tournament at Palmetto Aiken SC.
Last foursome one player hit a ball up to about 8 ft. Next players shot hits the ball and one of the balls goes in the hole. It was crazy.
Turns out the ball that was in the hole was the one already on the green and had to be replaced.
My story...par 5..my second shot was about 90 yards to the green. This other golfer swinging his second or third shot hits my ball! Ok...quite amazing but all is well. I hit my third shot and lands on the green. This same golfer took his turn and hits my ball again! Wow! Unbelievable, twice in a row! What are the odds!
Yesterday - my tee shot hit a range ball that was in the wrong place. Bad luck for me. I also hit two sticks on other holes and got unlucky bounces there too. Autumn in New England - it doesn't make for the easiest round.
I've seen it happen on the green and in the fairway. The funniest one I've seen though was this year, playing in a club tournament.
One of the guys I was playing with hit his drive on a par 4 hole where there was a blue spruce about 30 yards in front of him, between his ball and the green. It shouldn't have been a problem, but he hit his approach thin, a line drive straight into the tree. The ball bumped around and then trickled out, still about 3 feet on the wrong side of the tree.... or so we thought. When he walked up to the ball, he saw immediately that it wasn't his ball. We looked around, and finally found his about 9 feet up, stuck in a forked branch. When his ball went in, it hit another ball previously lost in the tree, knocked that one out and replaced it in the tree. That was one of the strangest incidents I've ever seen on a course. He ended up having to declare it unplayable, knock it out of the tree, and take the penalty drop.
