At my house, we have a nice short game practice are out back. I spend hours out there each day and am always looking for ways to mix it up and add a little fun every once in a while. I have been looking online lately and noticed there are no good web sites on trick shots and the basics of how to execute them. The ones i know and work on are:
1. obviously, bouncing the ball on the old lobber.
2. The lee Trevino, right hand only, back to the target chip.
3. Flip the wedge over and chip left handed (or right if ur a lefty). Make sure your grip is good and hands are way ahead of the ball.
4. John Daly's one handed chipping. (i saw him hole a 60yd pitch one handed before the final round at last year's Buick Open. The guy has Talent.)
Others i've seen but can't figure out how to do (anyone know???)
1.Padraig Harrington hits a small lob shot that doesn't fly past his front foot, then catches it in the air and pockets it (how cool is that).
2.Mickelsons over the head, backwards bunker shot (possibly the coolest looking shot i've ever seen.
This should be a fun thread to read. Look forward to it. :nodsmiley

I can blast a Driver 320 yards, and sliced WAY to the right, and OVER a bunch of trees, and land on the roof of a Lexus! And proved it earlier this year!
I can do the flop shot, catch trick.
I am also pretty good at the stymie chip.
I've been trying and trying to do the catch trick. Is the secret backspin and loft? Ball played of Back or front foot? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The only one I've perfected is the "Hit the 7" wide Palm tree 150 yards in front of you" trick. The secret is somehow position yourself precisely so that this tree is directly between you and the green that is 250 yards away.
I'm not 100% though, but I am 3 for 4.
Here's an easy one. Lay two balls in line with each other (they must be touching) running parallel to your swing. Hit the back ball as normal with a wedge and it will go straight up.
I have to admit though, I drove my family crazy until I could bounce the wedge 50 times w/o missing.
Only took about 6 hours of pure annoyance on my part.

lol. The hardest part is getting to 50 for the first time. (like making ur first birdie putt). I can't remember how many times i got to 47 or 48 and then just lost it before i finally did it.

Gets worse. I actually made my wife run into the room everytime I got close so I could have a witness. You can imagine why I was all alone when I finally did it huh?
In high school we had one coach for every sport. He was a decent golfer and would do the following:
he'd balance one golf ball on top of another (this is the hard part),
he'd hit the bottom ball with a normal 7-iron,
the top ball would go straight up in the air and he'd catch it,
the bottom ball would go as a normal 7-iron.
Personally, I've mastered the HOH (hit the hosel) and the 180 yard, low screaming lob wedge - but the key is to be able to do them in pressure situations!
That ball balancing, get 3 in like a triangle kind of arrangment, but they must all be touching. Then get another ball balance that on top and in the middle of the lower 3. Now the hard part, get another ball to balance on the one you just put on.
So it should be 3 on the bottom 2 on the top I was bored, lol in only took me about an hour to get, but it looks awsome as when you do it.
mickelson actually banks it off the lip of the bunker, that is how he gets it back over his head, he does not hit a flop shot that moves backwards. still quite amazing
