Supposedly there "Are no dumb questions" but I think this might actually be one. Do you tip an instructor? I have a lesson next week and I just happened to think about this.
Thanks
Dave
I get tipped about 1/2 the time. If you really click and he helps you more than you expected then a small tip is in order but if it is just a lesson with nothing above and beyond, then no tip would be in order.
"Nope I pay him enough as it is." What you have to realize is that many times, as much as 1/2 of the lesson fee doesn't go to the instructor and it can be even more than that in clinics. I have had friends working at places where the $50 lesson fee for the hour netted them less than $20...
I agree with jc, you'll know when you're getting a little more than the standard treatment or if things are working better than you'd ever expected...tip is a cool thing...
I tipped my first teacher only a couple of times and was more than rewarded for it with mini-lessons when he wasn't busy.
I didn't want to mention that part but yes, we do tend to give a little extra time to those that take care of us. Let's be perfectly clear, I am not talking about a huge amount here...many of my lessons throw me an extra $5 or $10 which is appreciated and rewarded.

I'm a very firm believer in tipping well. At a local restaurant we visit often... I always tip at least 20-25%... when I get my haircut(a whopping $14), I leave a 20. Why ? We magically always find a table when our restaurant is packed, and I've always got a chair open at the barber and I'm in and out of there in 5 minutes. My pro on the other hand.. he's also a very good friend of mine, so both of us wouldn't feel comfortable with a tip.
