what does the rating/slope of a course mean?
My home course has a rating of 70.3 and a slope of 122 from the white tees (6273yards) . I think it has something to do w. the difficulty of the course, but not sure how and what each one means. Is a lower rating mean a harder course or the other way. The course is one of the more difficult course in the area, but i never get tired of it because every hole has its own personality.

the higher the number the harder it is. I was told the course rating is what a scratch golfer should shoot. i dont know how they determine slope but I know the higher the number the harder the course

The higher the rating means the harder the course. Basically in a round about way the rating is the average score a scratch golfer should shoot. The slope is basically the same thing, the higher it is the harder the course. A slope of 116 I think is an average difficutly course.
