Well, I did get to play this little course a couple of times last week. The course was in great condition with soft greens and lush fairways. The course is tougher than its short length might lead you to believe. The second cut of rough is deep, drainage ditches/creeks cross many fairways, and there are not just trees, but small wooded rocky hills plunked almost in the middle of a couple of fairways. Driving accuracy is a premium on many holes. You can't even see three or four of the greens.
Number 8, mentioned by Saderchick, is a VERY interesting hole. It is a very short par 5, but the topography makes up for the length. A creek crosses the fairway about 150 yards out and a pond encroaches about halfway across from the left side. A good tee shot put your ball on a pretty extreme upslope. You have to walk to the top of the ridgetop with the 150 markers to see the green AND the almost straight downslope of the other side of the ridge.
Besides the beautiful course I shot my two best scores since returning to the game in February after a 12-13 year absence, 94 and 93. Both could easily have been several strokes better. My front 9 score the second round was 43, but all my good luck up to that point caught up with me on the back.
These were my first rounds with my new Hogan CFT 3H hybrid, or any hybrid for that matter. What a SWEET club! The density of that little head makes for an extremely solid feel. With irons there is a pretty distinct feel when the club contacts the ball. The hybrid just blows right through with great inertia. It really gives a feeling of confidence that the club is going right through the ball with no deflection. I am on the hunt for a 1H.
