On thursday the 16th I had my first birdie!!! I have only played golf like 5 times, and really like it even though I always seem to double or bogey a hole. well when I got my first birdie...it was a moment of joy. Now this game has got me hooked even more.
It was a short par 3 I think 112 to the pin, with a hill and bunker hiding the hole. So I aimed at the top of the flag with my 9 iron and just hit it nice and smooth. It went right to the flag but then disapeared behing the hill. We get up to the green and I was only 3 feet away from the cup. IT MADE ME
Congratulations...I still get excited when I PAR a hole so I know what you mean. I have only had 2 birdies so far, one was a short par 3 like yours only I could see the green and the other a total freak happening on a 540 yard par 5...exceptional drive and 2 good 2 iron shots on the fairway...it was all down hill so that helped but it still feels good, and impressed my golf buddies.
That is great that you made your first birdie and you will never forget it. My first birdie was a chip in so its more of luck but I still remember it and I have the ball in one of those glass boxes lol. Good Luck to you with your golf game and whenever you have a bad game just think about that birdie and you will keep on going.
Congrats! The first birdie in hopefully a long career of playing this great game. I remember my first one. It was on a 405 yd par 4. I hit a nice drive (about 250) down the middle of the fairway. My second shot was a 6 iron which I hit right of the hole (boy did I shank it). It ended up about 65 yds away from the pin. My third shot was uphill with the flag being front of the green. I took my sand wedge, and had some trees to my front-right. I decided to go with a flop shot because I was worried about the trees getting in my way with a regular shot. Needless to say, I chunked the flop shot right into the upper trunk of the tree. The funniest part was that the ball carromed right off that tree, headed for the hole. Two bounces later, it dropped. I know it's not the first birdie I would've liked; but it still counted 3 on the scorecard.
