Comradely of friends the meeting of new and interesting people, making new friends and just being outside in the sun enjoying the challenge of the game whether it is going good or bad.
I like the head to head battle with the course and the fellowship I enjoy with my playing partners. On the selfish side, I like knowing I can do something better than 99% of the people in the world. I feel I've worked hard and it's a great feeling.
I play mostly against the set-up that day, If i beat the folks i play with, more better.
If not did i beat the course or at least feel good about what i did.
Out on the golf course, I worry about nothing except the shot in front of me. Life throws all kinds of things at us and those things are on my mind 24/7-except when I'm on the range or on the course. Whether I'm playing my usual sorry game or playing better than normal, I'm always kind of sad to see the 18th hole. But my round doesn't end even when it's physically over.
I enjoy going over every shot in my mind, both good and bad. I like to analyze what the weakest part of my game was and then later on, going to the range and working it out.
When I'm having trouble sleeping at night I'll think about a course I've played and think about what shots I would like to hit on each hole from the first to the eighteenth. It relaxes and distracts me and I'm usually out by the time my thoughts have drifted to the 12th hole or so.
Everyone else has covered the other stuff about hitting a sweet three iron close to the pin or banging a drive close to three hundred yards so I won't go on about those.
1. Hitting a golf ball right on the screws and watching it fly. I swear it's almost as good as sex. Notice I said ALMOST guys.
2. The serenity and beauty of being on a nice golf course. Also there is an all night driving range I go. It's really calming and peaceful to be out on a warm Texas night hitting golf balls, everything else that's going on in life just fades to the background for the time I'm at the range.
3. Enjoying friends and meeting new people who enjoy the game as you do.
4. The challenge of getting better. This game will test your tenacity, self-confidence and determination.
5. Walking a golf course is **** good excercise.
6. The totally irony the game can bring. For example I recently flubbed a pitch shot and it only reached the fringe of the green. I then made about a 30 foot putt.

I thought I was the only one that played myself to sleep. LOL

you too? I usually don't make past the sixth hole.
The beer cart.
Whenever I'm having a bad day hearing that gasoline engine come rolling down the fairway always brings a smile across my face.
And completly dominating and destroying my friends and taking there pride and stomping it into the ground during a "friendly" match-play game is always nice as well.
