Hey. I am going on a cruise and I wanted to know if anyone has ever played the Mahogany Run Golf Course in St. Thomas or the Mullet Bay Course in St. Martin. I know it's a longshot but any reviews would be appreciated!
Mahogany run....NO do not fall into that one, its $180 (it was that when I was there) waste of time. Its pretty much just a regular course except for the 3 holes that are ocean side. You are in the woods for 15 holes and for 3 you are near the ocean. I didnt pay for the round so I want too mad about it, but if I had to pay that for the course, I would have been extremely upset with it.
Mullet Bay is an ocean side course that is "average" at best, they even state that in a few ads for the course itself, most saying its an ocean view course but not championship quality. For the money you would spend on either of these two, go play a championship course in the states.
What cruise line are you sailing? We do a cruise every Christmas with being on the boat for New years (best way to do it IMO). Last year was the Puerto rico/st. thomas/st.maarteen cruise which wasnt bad but not the best we've been on. As far as golf goes, this is the only cruise that I have gone golfing on, this year we are doing the greek Isles cant wait
Sweet, the royal caribbean ship down there is sweet! You should enjoy the trip and the boat. We went carnival last time out and RC last time we did that trip, enjoy the trip!
The ones I have been on have had the simulator's on them, I personally will probably never play golf during a cruise vacation again, for the simulator it is kind of expensive and you have to remember your trying to hit a good swing WHILE THE BOAT IS MOVING! When you port each stop, you will undoubtly sway from side to side when on solid ground, this makes for an unenjoyable round of golf at port because you are swaying during your swing and it throws you way off. We swayed for probably 3 days after our cruise down there last year..the carribbean waters were rough, hitting 25+ foot waves.
Personally, I would not recomend them at all, they are basically high priced Muni's that get those prices because theres nowhere else to play on that island. Imagine your avg muni at home, then make 2-3 of those holes have a "view" and there ya go, they just arent known for their "upkeep". The golf pro on the boat will tell you otherwise, he told us that before we golf and kept saying "isnt this the most beautiful course you've ever been on?" to which I can honestly reply "NO" I play better courses here for $60 than for the $180-200 they charge there, I would much rather pay that money for a course in the states that you know will be up to standards. Pretty much their courses are not kept up to our "top shelf" standards here.
