I was at the range 2 nights ago. I was watching some guy blast the heck out of his golfballs. Our range ends at 350 yards(there is no netting or anything...the grass is just not mowed past 350). He had brought a few of his own balls...they were yellow in color and he put his initials on them. He asked the range attendant if he would drive out there and see if he could find them to see how far they went. The range guy drove out in the ball picker to the very end of the range...got out...walked around in the long grass for about 10 minutes...he brought back 5 yellow balls that were all driven about 10-20 yards past the end of the range. I overheard them talking and he said that he was practicing for a long drive contest in which he would be going up against John Daly. I don't know if he was full of **** or not about the contest...but after seeing this guy smash a golf ball like he did...he could definitly hold his own.
Anyone know anything about any long drive contests coming up anytime soon with Daly in them?
Later,
Corey

Sounds doubtful to me. Daly is still one of the game's biggest draws and probably pulls down hefty appearance fees for just showing up for many events(non-PGA of course). A long drive contest against some nobody would likely be beneath him. Anything is possible if the money's right, I suppose.
Its the Pinnacle challenge that he was referring to, not sure if he was being honest about being in it, but the event is real. Unfortunately, john isnt hitting them as long as he used to and if you can hit 370 then you have a better than good change of beating him, but you also have to realized that he is hitting into a grid, so accuracy plays a HUGE factor.
I don't think they were illegal...he just hit those last. He was hitting the range balls almost as far(he hit a whole bucket of balls before he hit the ones he brought)...there were a bunch of them at the end of the range as well.
