Surprise in my match

Today was our first High school golf match of the season. The team did not fare too well, taking third of six in a division that we are favored to win. My round also didn't go as planned, 17 of the holes anyway.

On the 18th hole, my 14th of the day, a 153 yard par 3, i hit a nine iron, sky high (i have a naturally high ball flight, but this one really got up there), with a little draw. Because of the ridiculous height, I had no idea how far it was going, but it felt good off the clubface. I saw it land near the pin and spin back a few feet, and then it disappeared...My coach yelled from behind the green, "It's a hole-in-one!!!" So then i went thru the routine, did the little dance moves and everything, had a nice little celebration...But anyway, I played an otherwise poor round of golf, my score (an 88...blech) ended up as the #6 score for our team, so since only the top 5 scores count, mine didnt count. Oh well, making a hole - in - one (my first) felt quite excellent!

That's great golfshots82!! The hole in one no doubt will overshadow any other memory from the day when you think back on it from now on....heck, one day you may tell your grandkids about the hole in one you sunk, on the first playoff hole, after the other guy hit it stiff, to win the match for your high school back in the day. Having everyone believe your stories, or your memory is so bad you really can't remember...I know there must be some advantage to getting old!

Anyway, congrats on the hole in one and go get em next match! I love reading about the high school matches played by our younger members, it harkens me back to a few years ago when I myself took part in them....keep 'em coming guys (and gals)!!

Wow, that is unlucky. The best part I remember about the HS team was getting out at 9 or 10 in the morning to go play matches. But please, keep us updated on your matches as well nstar17.

How cool! You'll remember that round forever! I've seen 2...both by the same guy.

Congrats!
