Anyone use their lob wedge out of the sand ?

I recently got a 60* lob wedge and found it to be more consistant out of the sand on greenside bunkers than my 54* SW.

Anyone else use their lob out of the sand ???

on wet sand the lob wedge is great, it does not have as much bounce as a sand wedge so I dont have to worry about hitting the wet/compact sand and bouncing off it into the ball.

i was very bad out of the sand until i took my lob wedge and used it the same way i hit a flop shot with it, not only do i get it much closer to the hole i can also get spin on it when i want to

The cleveland 60* that is in the bag currently is a 3* bounce LW, in compact sand I use it like a normal LW, in softer/fluffy sand I either forward press or set up as a flop shot pending on the distance travelled.

I'll take the lob wedge into the bunker if the sand is favourable - in fluffy sand I'll use my sand wedge to take advantage of the extra bounce, but in harder sand the LW is great for getting under the ball. My LW has 8 deg bounce so it still skims nicely.

I use mine out of greenside bunkers about 50% of the time. Shots under 10 yds. sort of thing.

depending on the condition of the sand, if damp and compacted I find the 60 to be best by far, in light soft sand I use my 56 and play the lob shot. Best to stay out of the flipping things in the first place !!

Absolutely...particularly when I've short-sided myself. Nice soft landing.

I have used my 60 out of the sand, but usually use my 56 degree. I use spin milled Vokeys. I have a tendency to hit long if anything. Maybe 58 would be the way to go for us hehe!

Actually, considering the types of sand most of us play out of, something in the 3 to 7 bounce range should be the club we use out of bunkers. Most of the time, this is going to be the LW, or in my case, ULW.

I have the Ping M/B 60 degree lob wedge, do you think i could use that out of the sand succesfully? I've often thought about it, but everytime i automatically go for the sandwedge, providing its a bunker close to the green that is. I'm pretty sure it has 8 degrees of bounce (mid bounce M/B).

Greenside bunkers, I always use my 64* wedge, opened.
Seem to control it better because I don't worry about "finishing" my swing. I know I'll have to finish it, or I'll be still looking at the same shot.

I never could get that "open it up and aim left" thing. I now use my 60* Cleveland RTG, aim at the pin and hit about 1" behind with pretty good results.
